It just dawned upon me that Canelo doesn't really have classic fights

First off, I think Canelo is #1 p4p right now. And he challenges himself more than anyone else out there except Inoue who is #2 p4p. That being said...

his fights just suck lol. Like besides the 2 ggg fights, all of his fights are boring as f Uck!!!

vs Lara, although Lara is to blame as well
vs Callum Smith, although Smith is to blame as well
    vs Jacobs

and a whole lotta other fights. now im not saying they're meaningless, but i just have no incentive to ever watch them again. guys like Victor Ortiz, who obviously is nowhere near as talented as Canelo, got 2 classic fights I watch every now and then. Maidana and Berto 1. I never wanna rewatch a Canelo fight.

anyone else feel the same? put the personal bias aside

I thought that both GGG fights were excellent fights.

There are like 4 posters on this site who have a clear agenda--

You are one of them--Canelo is one of the best champions we have seen, literally fights anyone, moves up in weight

Come on, Kirkland was a 3 rd war for the ages. Kov was a intriguing fight but kinda boring,Trout was a entertaining fight, even BJS was interesting for a few reasons,it was a one of a kind type fight imo(his ko fights were interesting in own way like BQS who its fun to watch get beat up,cotto was a Excellent fight imho

hmm i need to rewatch the kirkland fight again. kov was boring because he was afraid of eventually getting KTFO. Yeah BJS fight was interesting given the story, and yea Cotto was a great fight too. but none of these fights scream CLASSIC to me. like i dont fw bradley's ****** ass at all, but his fight with provo was amazing. or Sergio vs PW. I know those are the upper echelons of classic boxing fights but i feel like we haven't seen one yet from canelo which is sad given that's he's 30.

Yes the Mandingo warrior fight reminded me of a jmw modern era version of Hagler hearns(of course with none of the prestige surrounding it,but just the part of it being a 3 rd war where both guys are throwing bombs beginning to end & 1 is just on a higher level)

But I think brawlers/come forward power punchers etc. Are the fighters who have the most classic wars(thats why Bradley v Provo was so great, both guys were plodders)

Canelo has always been a patient counterpuncher with power. I’ve never seen him as a brawling warrior. More of an intelligent boxer who doesn’t care about jabbing.

With that said he is unlike any other counterpuncher of his time.

I think Canelo makes fighting smart look fun. He fights smart but you know he can KO a man.

With that said, Canelo has been in more good fights than not. Even if he isn’t, some of his fights end up in an exciting way. That alone makes him must watch tv. A guy who’s going to be smart about his defense and punch selection and can also KO his opponent. That’s exciting to me.

His fights don’t all have to end in KO to fun to watch either:

                Trout
                Cotto
                GGG 2x
                Mosley
                Callum Smith
                Jacobs

These were interesting 12 round fights. I mean he beat up on Mosley and Smith, but they were fun to watch Canelo do as he pleases offensively. Jacobs and Trout put Canelo’s pure boxing skills on display. In the Trout fight is when I learned about Canelo’s defensive skills. Vs Jacobs, Canelo fought a taller guy, who’s his size, just as powerful, and very skillful. GGG and Cotto I felt made Canelo put everything on display.

I agree. Its just his style isn't made for classic fights. The golovkin fights are good but because the wrong guy won it makes its rewatch value low. The kirkland ass beating was a good one. Kirkland was inactive for two years and coming off a loss so it was expected.

You don’t know shyte about boxing. The Canelo-GGG fights was one of the best fights of the decade.
