Idek the details of the contract to suggest why someone should or shouldn't be paid so I got no fooking clue. I always assumed boxing contracts where pretty cut n dry. Either you gotta rematch clause or you don't. And if you do then there is an "act of god clause" that this whole covid thing would qualify as or not. So based on those two issues then the fight would be happening or not & if it was happening I'd assume you could put an injuction, or whatever Don King is always trying to do to these handful of guys dumb enough to sign with him these days, when the other party tries to fight someone else.
Will Fury get a payout from the arbitration?

If the contract said Fury had to fight Wilder next why couldn't Wilder get an injunction stopping any fight Fury tries to make?
The pandemic hit and everything got shut down.
At the end of the day, though, their contract still stipulates that Wilder and Fury had to fight each other next. But Tyson Fury is looking to fight someone else instead, hence why Wilder deserves compensation. And why Fury doesn't.
Also does anyone know the actual details of the contract or is this just a speculation free for all?Comment

This is NSB. It's a speculation free for all.Comment

Really don't give a sh%t who has to pay what, get it over with, Fury and AJ I and II happens and Wilder can fight Dillian Whyte and Andy Ruiz while AJ and Fury are settling their situation and after unification IF Wilder is good enough to beat Whyte and Ruiz then he will get enough shot at the Title (s). Fans talk as if after Fury vs AJ that is the end of everything, no Usyk, Whyte, Wilder, Ruiz all will be waiting in line for their shot at the newly crowned Undisputed Champ
Hopefully everything is cleared up tomorrow, even if he has to payout Wilder in Damages who cares he is about to make a ton of money with AJ for 2 FightsComment

It was widely reported the time frame of the rematch was before end of October, they didn't meet that time frame, so the rematch was not exercised.
To anyone that says well if there is a rematch clause they have to fight next without a time frame have a think about for a minute, you lose, say you will exercise the rematch but not take it for 2 or 3 years or more, no one would allow that to be permissible let alone the lawyers that deal with these contracts as their bread and butter.
It might not have been Wilder's call, from the sounds of it they lost money on the second fight and interest in the third was minimal but the fighter guarantees were still massive and without a gate it probably would have been a financial bloodbath for the promoters.
Force majeure (an unforeseen act of god) is often included within contracts, but I assume that would only cover if the fight couldn't be made because of an unforeseen issues, promoters or networks deciding they don't want to lose millions because they can't have crowds isn't force majeure, thats just a business decision.
Wilder going completely radio silent certainly doesn't help his cause in determining if he did all he could to make it happen either.Comment

During normal times when venues are open time frames matter. Idk that time frames matter when the world stops. Thats assuming their is some act of god type clause in there or some sorta wording that covers the world stopping for a year & no fans being allowed in venues. If there isn't then it should be fair play to Fury. If there is then Fury vs AJ shouldn't even be happening. My assumption based on this arbitration it seems they landed on is the wording is somewhere in the middle on this issue so both sides got an argument on being correct & since Fury is the one moving forward he's the "guiltier" party on not abiding by the middle ground.Comment

Wilder isn't fighting anyone of note until he takes a paycut, he's a nobody without a belt and a pathetic fanbase; his only saving grace was the third fight so unless he moves back down to 7 or 6 figures he isn't getting a fight. Andy ruiz if lucky did 125k buys at 1 million dollars wilder would be lucky to do 100k with anyone.Really don't give a sh%t who has to pay what, get it over with, Fury and AJ I and II happens and Wilder can fight Dillian Whyte and Andy Ruiz while AJ and Fury are settling their situation and after unification IF Wilder is good enough to beat Whyte and Ruiz then he will get enough shot at the Title (s). Honestly arguing pure economic loss like this is already tricky in an actual court case, proving the damage isn't easy and establishing the actual amount is hard even when you don't have an unstable and unpredictable income as a pro boxer. And this isn't even a proper court case where you can file a counterclaim. I don't think there's any way anybody's getting money out of the arbitration one way or another.Comment
