  • Top Rank Exec: Kenny Porter is Telling The Truth! But The Fight is "Too Costly"

So this isn't a "Florida or Texas" type of fight but fans are now being allowed to attend fights in Vegas, so how does that even make any sense? And why couldn't the fight be placed in Texas? It could do a seven figure gate and you would put it on PPV as well.

Whatever, this was the fight I thought was going to happen but time for everyone to move on. Porter can possibly fight someone like Josesito Lopez in the summer time and hope he gets a bigger fight later in the year.

I expect an apology from ShaneMosleySr after all the slandering of Porter hes heen doing. ray I told you Porter wasn't at fault,it was the fault of WBO/Espn etc.(to some degree Bud who once again refuses to do what it takes to get a good name at ww)

I love Crawford but if he resigns with Arum then I don't think I'll bother following his career any longer.

I get that, but you cannot argue that TR hasn't been great to him. Dude is getting paid 3.5-4M a fight and they have given him some nice slots on ESPN. If Crawford wants to re-sign then he should do just that.

I just don't understand the logic here. I get Arum not wanting to give an offer from the initial meeting, but why can't this fight take place in Texas or Florida? Forget the fact that Vegas is now opening up but that just doesn't make sense. Pretty sure NY is going to be allowing fans back soon if they haven't already. I don't know, just weird how they completely just ignored Porter from being a legitimate potential opponent for Bud. It is one thing to have Pacquiao as option A, but why not have Porter as your backup plan?

Las Vegas opens on June 1. Idk why they couldn't make the fight for July or August if the money needs to be Vegas or NYC money.

Just to explain the whole venue thing.

It's generally easier to make a big fight in Vegas because we're always receiving international fans plus California drive fans.

            Nobody goes to Texas.

Top Rank is basically trying to maximize the money. And that strategy is because Crawford isn't a draw domestically. They're afraid it tanks in Texas, they can't sell it to venues.

If I were Top Rank, I would negotiate a dual broadcast co-main under Fury/Joshua. HBO did that all the time, you'd have Roy Jones fighting overseas while Naseem was fighting in the US, for example.

Oh well. Mike Alvarado it is

I believe the Knicks have fans for their games now as well so it could even he put there. But the fight isn't even on their radar, that's what I took from that. Never got back to Kenny and just ghosted him and team Porter after their initial meetings. So I wonder if they are just using the fight being too costly as a front but just not really wanting the fight in the first place?
