Not as bad as people think.

He has not disappeared or turned to substance abuse.

I think Fury has embarrassed him more than anything.

No, fury didn't ruin him as he smothered his work. Wilder looked there for taking and it looked like fury only needed to land a few more but instead was grappling

Obviously pretty bad. Wilder pretty much retired.

The guy went crazy talking about costume weight, drugs in water, no padding in gloves.

As a Wilder fan who showed him a ton of support, I could not show him any support for his behavior post fight. He should have just kept his mouth shut, have a comeback fight a few months later and keep fighting.

But you never know what went on his head. It’s a brutal sport. You would think a guy who is 42-1-1 with 41 KO’s would have more confidence. So who knows how mentally messed up Fury made him. Probably really bad. He was fighting at least twice a year, now he has 0 fights in 15 months. It’s hard to deny that Fury did something to him. Boxers probably suffer with things like PTSD and trauma. He got hit hard, repeatedly, by a big man, for a prolonged period. He took a beating on live tv. That’s really hard to take.

I think Wilder, and maybe Jay Deas too, are scared of the questions they will be asked by journalists if Deontay fights again.

"Deontay, can you show us the dent in your head you were talking about in the video you put out?"

"Jay, Deontay says Fury had egg weights in his gloves. You checked his gloves and watched him putting them on. If he had weights in his gloves, how come you didn't see them?"

"Jay, Deontay says Mark Breland spiked his water for the Fury rematch. What are your thoughts on that?"

"Deontay, you claim that Fury had his fists in the cuffs of his gloves, and that he scratched your ear with his fingernails. Where do you think the egg weights were when that happened?"

          etc, etc, etc ....

He ruined his grandstanding thats for sure . Wilder is nothing without a gimmick and that was the WBC belt . Wilder will bounce back but against who and if he gets the winner of undisputed he gets smashed again . It doesn’t really matter his career is on the chopping block anyway , he’ll make a few more bucks and call it a day while telling the world he was the greatest fighter ever .

Wilder was already mentally fragile. That loss really took the wind out of his sails. Endless excuses, each one more ridiculous than the previous. Then finally settling into isolation. It could be a temporary set-back, we won't know until he gets in the ring again with a ranked opponent. I think we've already seen the best of Wilder, which wasn't all that great to begin with.

Who knows. Maybe he didn't for all we know. I'd bet against it, but that could be the situation.

We won't fully know whats up with Deontay til he gets some sorta challenge in the ring. Depending on his schedule & the state he's in that could be in the first fight if he's done vs anybody or that could be 3 fights down the line when he fights a real threat if he's got something, but ain't the same guy who won & defended the title for awhile.

Probably true but he went mental after the losses---

I think a personality like Furys was just his kryptonite--He needs guys to be somewhat afraid of him to be successful in boxing

He also kept saying he was going to "kill a man in the ring"

Agree with most of this. First L's can be rough on lotsa fighters, particularly those who've had long unbeaten streaks right out of the gate, but this was a bad first L on top of it being a first L. Sometimes people need to mourn that first L, for lack of a better phrasing, & that could be what Deontay is doing with the time off even if thats not how he's thinking about it or talking about it. But its possible he just sucks it up & comes back having built himself back up to what he was. Personally I wouldn't wager on that being the case at this stage of his life & career, but I definitely think its a possibility.
