It seems Ruiz fans making every excuse in the book for him to avoid Ortiz... but fact remains Ortiz would likely own him. Ortiz has better boxing basics, solid power, more technically advanced etc. Yeah he's older, but IMO still has the skills to overcome a fighter in Ruiz who really doesn't have an abundance of skills to offer. Definitely would be a great fight for the fans.

Heavyweights arent like other weight classes imo. IF you are in your 40s in the lightweight division you are WASHED for sure. But heavyweight? Look at the great things Bhop did middleweight / LHW and the great things George Foreman did in his 40s. Never count no one out. Sports science has developed quite a bit and Ortiz is still a very dangerous fighter.Comment

Wondering about Ruiz's punch resistance, it didn't look good to start last fight but he settled into it. I usually give the trainer change 3 fights to really click so we'll see.
Ortiz could be old as af but he will always throw those nice straight punches, sick uppercuts, always be dangerous
he hasn't really been called to do anything in a fight in a while though - didn't have to do anything in his last fight....and didn't do that much in the rematch against Wilder who was extremely low volume. I know it's HW and respect has to be afforded to Wilder but not the type of performance I would expect in a rematch....he probably picked up rounds but not much was going on, he had less success than the first fight imo. Same can be said for Ruiz's performance in his rematch....but AJ changed his style, Wilder fought the same fight
I realize he is not out there throwing volume as it was but I think this would be like the Hammer fight where there was more give and take...he won a decision but it was a pretty good fight. That was a night that he was showing some age I thought...Hammer comes to fight and has a good right hand, I remember watching that thinking of Ruiz vs Ortiz.. I think that is what Ortiz would really be when there is more back and forth... I would like to see it, gotta go with RuizLast edited by LA_2_Vegas; 05-14-2021, 09:00 PM.Comment

Indeed from LHW on up many fighters regularly have a lot to offer past age 40.Heavyweights arent like other weight classes imo. IF you are in your 40s in the lightweight division you are WASHED for sure. But heavyweight? Not so much.
