Concepcion had a 3-4 weight division advantage by fight night. Anyone with actual boxing sense and not blind nutthuggery knew we werent going to see the fight we expected soon as we heard Concepcion missed weight by 5lbs.

Yeah, but Concepcion isn't nearly as skilled as Mares so it evens out.Plus Mares is a natural bantamweight so he is probably bigger than most fighters(besides Concepcion)Donaire has faced.

Anyways, Mares would probably lose a decision right now, not because Donaire is better but because Mares is somewhat green. In about a year or after a couple fights with top ten opposition, Mares in my opinion would give him a good fight and possibly would beat him.

            I agree.

Even though I think Donaire is ok. I think he's overrated. Other than Vic I don't see what's the big deal of him being in the P4P rankings. But then again P4P is **** right now.

Donaire just hasnt had much luck with fights because noone wants to fight him. He's like the Paul Williams of the lower weight divisions.

He made beating Darchinyan look easy. Darchinyan then went on to destroy fighters who were supposed to outbox him like Donaire did. Like Kirilov and Mijares. Even went up to 118 and still gave Agbeko all he could handle.

Just as Donaire moved up to 115....everyone that was at 115 moved up to 118 because that's how good Donaire is.

Some of you are wrong for bringin' it up the mis-Concepcion fight as a gauge as to what Donaire is about. Forget the fact that misConcepcion was clearly the bigger fighter, add the fact that Donaire hurt his left hand.

So, Donaire was not able to put his combinations together and couldn't set up his punches with the jab(which was the injured hand), he resorted to punching one at a time and really was more focused on being elusive.

He rattled Misconcepcion in several of those rounds, but he couldn't follow it up due to the damaged hand, his $$$ hand/the one he nailed Darchinnyan with.

I don't give Concepcion any props at all, he looked tougher than he really was, in the end, Nonito's injury made MisConcepcion look good.

__________________________________________________ __________________Speaking of Mares, the boy is bad, I've always liked him. He's the naturally bigger fighter compared to Nonito.

I haven't really seen Mares deal with real adversity, so , it's hard to gauge him. All I know is the man is talented and obviously has learned alot from being a former Nacho fighter.

He hasn't faced a sharp-shooter like Nonito at the same time, Nonito has to get away from pot-shottin' and really put his punches together, because he'll need it against someone like Mares.

I'm surprised Mares called out Nonito and not JMLopez. Afterall, JuanMa is closer to Mares's size. I think a JuanMA vs. Mares would have more fireworks, they're styles mesh real nice and would provide alot of fireworks.

It should be noted that Abner did not call anyone out. The person who was doing the interview mention Nonito. Abner was very respectful to Nonito and Lopez.

He said it would be a good fight and it had a good possibility that it could happen within a year.

you can listen to it here....

I dunno about this one Frankie, its a boy against a man, so far they've been bringing him up the right way, big mistake to put him up against Donaire with no world class experience.

Well... realistically, We are not looking for that fight as of right now for Abner. We would like him to get a few more fights to work on some stuff that he needs to. And capture a title at 118lbs. As far as Nonito, I think that fight would be a good fight for Abner down the line. It won't be easy, but you have to take risk in boxing.

We will cross that bridge when we get there.
