    You mentioned two 175 lbers.

So Canelo has to fight all these guys to get your attention, but it's ok for Charlo to duck a callout from Benavidez and to fight Juan Macias Montiel next?

That clown show with mayweather and the Paul bros two days ago stole all of the headlines from this fight, which is just further proof of what I’m saying.
He is going to break the American indoor record tonight so he's above superstars from the past in that category.

DAZN isn't following the old PPV model so buy rates don't apply for their fighters.

Buy rates is how they make most of their money, so it 100% applies. Canelo hasn’t drawn the membership rates that Dazn hoped for when they first started working with him, hence the termination of the guaranteed contract. The indoor record has more to do with the size of the arena, which didn’t exist for fighters in the past. Chavez sr had a similar number of tickets sold for his fight against Whitaker about 30 years ago in Texas. A Mexican drawing big ticket numbers in Texas isn’t anything new and is in no way any indication of his country or world wide appeal, which pales in comparison to past stars.

Subscription streaming services are a new thing so buy rates for that can't be compared to the numbers from the old PPV model. It's apples and oranges.

There's never been more tickets sold to an indoor boxing match in the US, in the state of Texas or in any other state. Why are you going out of your way to try to find a way to downplay such a big accomplishment? Just salute Canelo for being the man.

The 70,000+ that will be in attendance won't be just people of Mexican descent. I guarantee that. All the Mexican support makes it safe to say that Canelo has massive popularity in two countries, though. I bet he sells out in England too if he ever goes across the pond. The guy absolutely has worldwide appeal.

Only in the Trout fight did I realise "Whoa, this kid's good!" That Alamodome atmosphere was electric back then, and we all know it'll be on fucking FIRE tonight. That crowd will be poppin' mad.
I was there in the Alamodome. Even during the undercards the atmosphere was electric. Everyone was ready to crown the next bug thing. Still have my tickets and program from the Trout fight.

I think the sport was fortunate to have Canelo waiting in the wings while Pac and Floyd faded to the background.

Maybe he doesn't have the phenom like qualities like Roy or Pac or Floyd, etc. but he's still has always been damn good - turned pro as a teen and then have all types of expectation placed upon him that he has mostly met. That **** isn't easy

Outside his home country?! Hahaha. I guess you've never been to Texas. Or Arizona. Or New Mexico. Or California.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Canelo cherry pick a 175 belt off a broken down Kovalev and by giving him almost no time to prepare?? That means all 175 options are on the table.

I agree, Charlo needs to step up and have a big fight with Andrade or Benavidez. Doesn't mean that he won't pose a legitimate challenge to Canelo anyway. Same thing with Benavidez. Both those guys are more dangerous than the "murderer's row" of Yildirim, BJS, and Caleb Plant.

Canelo is the biggest name in a bad era for boxing.
