basically real Mexicans from Mexico are real boxing fans and don’t fall into nationalistic traps. Meanwhile, Mexican Americans feel the need to compensate for not being from Mexico so they go over the top with their cult like support because they think it makes them more Mexican. Kind of ironic when you really think about it.

I admire them a lot, it was the best boxing environment I had ever been in. They treated me down there with nothing but respect.

I spent a significant amount of time in cities and towns in Baja, as well as Distrito Federal and of course the Yucatan. Mexicans in Mexico are a very different group than Mexican Americans much like Italian Americans from jersey and NY are very different from real Italians

DF was where I spent most of my time but I've been other places in the country too.

They treated me so much better than people on this board and at boxing events here do, in American people talk to you like you are garbage just for supporting American fighters. In Mexico they were very respectful and much more knowledgable on boxing.
