This broken hand is just a reason to try & justify & rationalize his decision. Plenty of fighters fight with broken brittle hands. Paulie, mr.counterfeit cash, gatti, & donaire just to name a few of the top.
he quit b/c he was humiliated by MAB. He tried fighting one more time but but found out he never recovered his confidence, mojo, chutzpah, from the MAB loss. Rather than be a true champion & try to overcome from that loss & he decided to pack it in.
MAB emasculated him. it was his biggest fight, he was undefeated, in his 1st fight in vegas & his elaborate entrances & that islam shout out, then fight happend.......
He could never recover from that emotionally & spiritually.
I agree with this, its just Naz rationalizing his decision, it may have factored in but using it as a primary reason is BS imo. We know what the primary reason was and you touched upon it.

i don't know why people say he was a big puncher, some power yes,but not devastating power, even barrera said after fight in the ring that he doesn't hit as hard as people say he does,,,i think hamed was just embarrased after loss,he was a loud mouth and to get schooled that way was just too much for him

Just an excuse that took him seven years to come up with.
Barrera owned him, he was one of the biggest mouths the boxing world has ever seen, and all the talk of going to america and blitzing out everyone was bull****. He always said he could never be beat, his faith would not let him be beat! He actually truly belived that crap, so when he did get beat, his heart and confidence crumbled.

it's strange how in boxing it's the most featherfisted punchers that have hand problems. But could that perhaps be the REASON that they're feather fisted? Because their hands are so brittle and they don't want to punch hard? Floyd Mayweather, Calzaghe, Paulie Malignaggi the list goes on and on...all brittle handed fighters.

You obviously don't know anything, not that i am surprised.
Boxing prime means nothing when compared to Physical prime.
Look at Tyson, at age 20 he became undisputed HW champ, but post prison, in his Physical peak, his record was 9-4.
I think you should stick to Cotto/Pac/Mayweather nuthugging threads

Originally posted by SnoopySmurfJust because he had one loss to Barrera, you nuthuggers are saying he was over the hill? Barrera has had more fights than Hamed when they clashed. Your excuse is poor. He got schooled by Barrera.
I hate it when you idiots don't give Barrera credit. He BEAT HAMED. GET OVER IT. HAMED WAS NOT THAT GREAT.
But it's guys like you who judge guys from 1 bout.
It's well known Naseem was going downhill fast when he sacked his old coach Ingle.
Watch Naseems earlier bouts, and compare them to his latter bouts.
His went downhill very fast, and it's a wonder why he never lost sooner.
At his best, he is indeed one of the best imo.
