GGG vs Esquiva Falcao

He chose to fight a guy they were looking at fighting during the same time they chose to fight Rolls. The IBF wasn't on the verge of ordering anything.Comment

They don't have to be "on the verge" to know how they're going to act. He didn't look like he was going to unify so of course the IBF is going to do what the IBF do.Comment

They said it was to “get the mandatory out of the way”, but out of the way for what exactly? Falcao?
I’m a big GGG fan but at this point he’s just hanging around for the Canelo trilogy.
I do hope we get GGG-Murata though, that would be a war.Comment

Maybe this is just a rumor and there's no Falcao fight. I've followed Golovkin for a long time so it's been hard to not be disappointed. I'll watch Golovkin vs Murata. Both guys seem to be bothered by volume but neither is a volume puncher. Should be a good fight.Comment

GGG/Murata apparently is set for 12/31. No reason that G can't fight someone decent in between though. A tune up would be fine if he hadnt just fought Salamalander.Comment

Sigh.... I was such a Golovkin fan for so long. 3 to 4 fights a year. Travel anywhere. Always either smiling or fighting. Did not take himself too serious, using obviously broken English and even worse Spanish to get the crowd and fans behind him. He fought Canelo to a stand still in 2 glorious, entertaining fights, and no one else can say that. He was flirting with ATG status, in the prime of his career.
Now? He has accomplished absolutely nothing else. I have no idea who this guy is being mentioned as a opponent. I mean zero insults to him.. he may be the real deal and just waiting on an opportunity. But at this stage of his career, this looks like Golovkin is just milking the cow of his fan friendly name and huge DAZN contract. It is not like there are not names that would happily line up to fight him, he just does not want them. No unifications, no top 10 MW, no excitement. Just him doing the minimum with the maximum time off in-between.
Such. A. Waste.Comment

Falcao is definitely better than the Polish dude but as you say he could have picked a better opponent.
Falcoa has history with Murata though so I guess that makes the matchup a bit more logical.Comment
