In professional boxing, the undisputed champion of a weight class is a boxer who is recognized as the world champion at that class by all the major sanctioning bodies.

i think a lil guy named margarito who held the wbo for years would dispute that. strangely enough margarito was the best and he wasn't part of the lil spinks-judah tourney for fake welterweight king.
So your trying to tell me that you know more than the people

I'm not a PBF hater it is just how i see it. And regarding the weight advantage for Cotto, it will be smaller than PBF's, because Pacquiao has had his last fight 2 fights at 140 or over while JMM had only 2 fights at 135 and never been over 140.

Does that means that Baldomir is better than Cotto, Margarito or even Mosley.

Baldomir became undisputed champion by beating Zab Judah (the same guy that Cotto ko'd) and Arturo Gatti at a stage of his career on which he was not at the level of Cotto, Margarito or Mosley.
The fact is that Baldomir can never be compared to those 3 boxers, Undisputed or Not

*sigh*....so when Mayweather fights PAC..what will you say?

can you read?...WHEN MAYWEATHER FOUGHT BALDO & ZAB IN 2006 @WW...
      .
Cotto was still @ 140 fighting Malignaggi..then wayyy later in the year he fought Quintana.....

      ^^this excludes Cotto

Mosley fought 2 fights in 2006 vs an out of shape Fernando Vargas @154

      ^^^this excludes Mosley

Margarito in 2006 was a nobody that fought Manuel Gomez...then at the end of the year fought Clottey

      ^^^^this excludes Margarito

how can you be undisputed when margarito has the wbo title belt not to mention he's the best fighter in the division? whenever you unify more than 1 belt you are deemed "undisputed" by the organizations in the same way they have "interim champs" and "super champs" real undisputed champs have all the belts like hopkins did.

"To me, it's a toss-up," said Paul Williams, the undefeated WBO No. 1 contender, who will be fighting Mario Lucero on the undercard on Saturday, in what he hopes will be a final tune-up before challenging Antonio Margarito for that version of the title.

Margarito, however, must himself first get past a difficult defense in Atlantic City on Dec. 2 against Joshua Clottey, whose only loss was a disqualification against Baldomir in a 1999 bout he was winning on the scorecards. If Margarito prevails against Clottey, his eyes appear to be less on Williams than on the victor of Saturday's contest.

"The only two threats I see at 147 pounds are Mayweather and Baldomir," Margarito recently told ESPN.com over brunch in Las Vegas. He will have, he said, a rooting interest Saturday night.

This is for the people that keep saying $8MIL for Antonio Margarito was SO MUCH for PBF to refuse:

On July 22, Baldomir knocked out fan favorite Arturo Gatti to cement his place as a legitimate champion rather than a one-fight aberration. Promoter Dan Goossen then stepped in to table a deal that contained enough money to make both sides happy (reportedly matching the $8 million Mayweather had been offered by Arum to fight Margarito), paving the way for Saturday's fight.

And here are some more thoughts from the 147 pound division in regards to Mayweather/Baldomir since you guys SWEAR that everyone thought it was SO EASY for PBF.

"Mayweather should be the favorite," Margarito said, "but Baldomir's a dangerous fighter. We'll see."

"It's a good fight," Williams said. "They're calling it 'Pretty Risky.' To me, it's a toss-up. It don't matter who you're in the ring with, it only takes one punch to change the whole night around."

"Like I said, it's a pick 'em," added Smith, although he marginally favors the underdog. "As the fight gets gritty, toward the later rounds, the championship rounds, I'd have to lean toward the bigger guy."

          Cintron tilts the other way.

"My heart is going toward Mayweather on a decision."
          -- Cintron

"My heart is going toward Mayweather on a decision," he said. "It's going to be a tough fight for him, but I think he's going to pull it off. I just think that Baldomir's toughness is going to take him through to the end of the fight."

yea all the welterweights were hoping baldomir would win so they could beat him next and become the "welterweight king lol" but they all knew that was basically impossible unless mayweather became a quadropalegic during the fight and even then i dont think baldomir could win.

              • the pressure is on pbf to perform and sell. this time he is the A-side and he needs to sell the fight. also, he's fighting a smaller fighter so he has to end the fight before 12 rounds. if pbf is backing up against jmm, that would be disgraceful.
