  • De La Hoya: "The Pressure is On Floyd Mayweather Jr"

The date of September 19 is only a few weeks away. Floyd Mayweather Jr. makes his long awaited return to the ring against Juan Manuel Marquez at the catch-weight of 144-pounds. The pressure in the fight, according to Oscar De La Hoya, is on Mayweather and not Marquez. The Mexican warrior is a heavy underdog and most expect him to lose. Mayweather is expected to win big. If he falls behind the expectations, he might lost his marketing power when he tries to make a fight with Manny Pacquiao and others. [details]

I do agree most of the pressure is on Floyd, but not because it's mexican independance day lol. Not gonna effect Floyd, whatsoever. Hoping for a great fight. And pray Marquez is too much of a G to lose by KO, and atleast lose by Dec.

When you talk about losing marketing power for a fight with pacquiao is where you mess up. Cotto will beat pacquiao by tko in a bloody crowd pleasing brawl. On second thought you may be right but for the wrong reasons, like Mayweather dodging Cotto.

Mayweather fights the best with the pressure on him. JMM/PBF = Gatti/PBF

The question is, does Floyd leapfrog Pacquiao in the P4P ranks if he wins easily since it was apparent that Marquez gave Pac all he could handle twice?
