Good sign for the sport going forward. Now, there will be more "circus" fights but this generation loves them. Mayweather/McGregor really appealed to them and there is a reason Jake Paul has been doing so well. Looks like networks will continue to invest in boxing and I expect more and more to enter the space. It may make things more fragmented but at least the fighters will get paid well.

Looking at those statistics, the boomer generation really is the one most down on boxing. That's actually good. The younger generation is getting more and more into boxing while the older generation is leaving the sport. If it was the opposite then it would have been a big problem.
Boxing is such a cheap to put on for these networks that it makes sense for them to continue to invest in them. Interesting that MMA is below boxing with this generation, would have figured the opposite.Comment

If this is true illegal streaming IS happening at crazy rates cuz ratings don't seem to co-sign this outcome. Although maybe I'm misunderstanding "very interested" in boxing & that could be more basic like reading boxing news online & following boxers on SM.Comment

But those are the ones that subscribe to apps and those numbers are never released. They aren't watching it off cable or anything. Those that do watch television still the old school way, they are not as interested in boxing and the ratings reflect that.Comment

I'd argue you aren't "very interested" in boxing if you aren't watching boxing on apps, cable & PPV. So they gotta be illegally streaming sh^t + using apps at a minimum. But that's just my take on what "very interested" is. I'm curious what the poll guys definition of "very interested" was.Comment

Whenever people ask me about sports, I tell them I pretty much only follow boxing. A good majority of the time these people think I'm actually talking about UFC and WWF. I bet a lot of those "boxing" votes were actually for UFC/WWE and they just didn't know any better.
But I call it WWF still because I'm a purist. Eff Pandas and their ****** fund.Comment

Damn boxing forums would have you think it’s old farts who love boxing and not the kids

I mean, sure, send it, but where are all these "fans" for the real events? Are they only tuning up to watch jake paul fight some mma dude? Look at the ratings UFC has and look at boxing. Look at the ppvs sales they get, only the youtuber can beat them. Canelo had to wait for a UFC ppv to finish so he could fight ffs.
UFC's channel in youtube has over 11 million subscribers but no boxing channel from PBC, Top Rank, Matchroom boxing can't even get close to a million subscribers. Look at the amount of people posting here and look at the amount posting in sherdog. Reddit channel in MMA has 1.6 million members while boxing only has 1 million.
I mean they are different sports. And because of that, a lot of people likes one without liking the other. But boxing should give up trying to measure their **** with the UFC because at this point I think is a losing battle as far as popularity goes.Comment
