Why do people say Canelo tries to fight like Floyd?

I know theirs haters that don't like him but I hear a lot of weirdos saying he tries to fight like Floyd. They don't fight nothing alike. Floyds defense was basic but he mastered it if u really study him u would c that he just either ducked then move out position or shoulder roll and go in a shell. Canelo doesn't do none of that he stays in front of u and slips all ur punches. Both their offense is also different people need to stop acting like Floyd invented the shoulder roll an pull counters an what not. Just wanted to know what the guys that say he copied him mean by it.

Canelo doesnt fight using his face as a shield and Canelo is very slippery like Floyd was.

Canelo fights nothing like Floyd though bc Canelo tries to hurt his opponents and when he does that he leaves himself open (and often gets tagged). Floyd seldom got tagged because he was a safety first fighter and did lots of potshotting, moving, clinching, and smothering.

Canelo is the most popular fighter this era, like Floyd in previous era, so expect a lot of hate...especially after Floyd draw card and GGG 1 Byrd card as well as clenbuterol revelation

I've seen nobody say that at all and to call Mayweathers defence basic is just ridiculous.

He didn't have the sweet pea type defense. Basic defense meaning like I said he either ducked the first punch and then got out position so u can't throw another punch or he would go into a shell and block everything. He had great reflex that allowed him to get away with it cause SR had the same defense but wasn't that successful with it. U might be the type I did the post for.

This is the 1st I've seen anyone suggest Canelo fights like Floyd. The only comparisons I've seen is in terms of how they operate as the cash cow.

Sweet Pea encouraged punches from his opponent and dodged them very effectively. Floyd nullifies offense and reduces the punch output of his opponent. Clearly different but I don't think "basic" is the best description of Floyd's defense.

Floyd schooled Canelo with his aggressive counter-punching style as the smaller man.

Canelo used to be a passive counter-puncher. He rarely walked forward.

Guess what he is now? He fights EXACTLY like how Floyd fought him against bigger men.

He did start fighting like Floyd after their fight.

More head movement and pull counter variations. It's pretty obvious to me.

Canelo’s a badass as was Floyd. Rope a Dope has a history in itself as legends have to pop their cherries showcasing it. Be it Ali with Foreman, Benitez vs Hearns, Floyd vs Cotto, Canelo vs GGG. If you guys don’t see the lineage of having fun of defense means you’re all covert LDBC spies!! I keep saying it, Cheetos and Sprite errrday all day with blunts will inevitably give you Colon cancer or respiratory problems. Purple syrup doe

I definitely can see some similarities in that, I personally think he learned a lot from his fight with Mayweather, his head movements, pull counter do seems TBEeque..

Does Canelo technically pull counter like Floyd? He seems to slip counter more than he does actually pull.
