Absolutely not. He might have lost a little something, but he did great against De La Hoya. DLH ended up ruining him.

Yes, put in there way too early... he was rushed which didn't help his career progress as much as it could of done.

I mean, he was 22 when he faced Trinidad... that's way too young to put somebody in with Trinidad at that point of his career.

i became a tito fan after he beat the starch out of vargas....****y MFR thought that the 'smaller' tito wasnt gonna bring his power from 47...

then that first left hook landed, man, vargas looked like he ran into an anvil...great beatdown...one of my favorite fights of all time

They put him in there with top competition too early.....Vargas had like 20 fights and was 19 or 20 when they started having him fight at a top level. I wouldn't have minded him fighting some cans for a while to develop. I think he is the reason why so many fighters are babied nowadays. Vargas is kind of a don't let this happen to your young prospect ad.

Similar to Julio Cesar Chavez-Meldrick Taylor, it wasn't Tito/Chavez alone that caused their fast declines, but played a bigger part in it than any other fight.

Vargas never fully was what he once was, but he looked pretty good against De La Hoya. Much better than he had in his previous 2 bouts against Rivera and Flores.

Nando was in a lot of tough grueling bouts physically. Wright, Quartey, Trinidad, De La Hoya. Plus he had those injuries which limited his mobility.
