2009, what a year for boxing!!!

2008 had way better fights than this year, 2007 had way more meaningful fights than this year

2007 had
De La Hoya-Mayweather - highest grossing fight of all time
Mayweather-Hatton - two undefeated fighters, best welterweight vs. best jr. welterweight
Calzaghe-Kessler - two undefeated fighters, best 2 supermiddleweights
Taylor-Pavlik - two undefeated fighters, 2 of top 3 middleweights
Pacquiao-Barrera II - turned out to suck but a highly anticipated rematch
Marquez-Vazquez I and II - II was the fight of the year, I was really good too

2008 had 3 really great fights
1. Vazquez-Marquez III - best fight since Corrales-Castillo I
2. Cotto-Margarito - really good fight
3. Adamek-Cunningham - best cruiserweight fight since Mormeck-Bell I

Pacquiao-Marquez II was also a really good competitive fight



Mayweather-Marquez is a mismatch, plain and simple. Everything Marquez does, Mayweather does better. And Mayweather is bigger.
Pacquiao-Cotto became a joke with all the catchweight and diamond belt talk. It's not nearly as big now as it should have been.

none of those fights you listed are bigger or p4p better than upcoming megafights. mayweather/de la hoya is not even worth mentioning cause we all know how that turn out

why do you think Mayweather-Marquez will be a good fight? Marquez can't match Floyd's skills and he's smaller. I see no way he makes it competitive.

2009 looked to be great. Started off strong, had a bunch of big name fights in it. Unfortunately we've had a lot of cancellations and postponements this year too.

We'll have to see. If anything the second half of 2009 is looking superb.
