It is actually a less straightforward stylistic match up than MMA fighter vs boxer usually would be. Ngannou is very one dimensional for a champ in the modern era, his game is pretty much boxing with enough defensive wrestling to keep things standing, and Whyte was a decently high level kickboxer who dabbled in MMA before he went to boxing. So yes I agree..kind of. On the other hand I think Ngannou/Whyte in a boxing match would be a rare instance of the MMA fighter having a decent outside shot too.
But like I said, Whyte does not deserve to be getting UFC title shots. He doesnt bring anywhere near the reward (in PPV buys and prestige) that AJ or Fury do. Its like Canelo might entertain the idea of boxing Conor or Khabib but I dont think he'd pay much attention to Tony Ferguson.
