To be honest, there's so many ways to lose in MMA that no one is going to keep an undefeated record for long.
It's also one of the reasons I'm beginning to warm up to UFC, there's less stigma when you lose. In boxing, you have the likes of Letterman screaming, "AND WE MIGHT NEVER SEE ROY IN THE RING AGAIN!" after a first loss.
I do agree, though, in boxing you get the best doing what they do best rather than the jack of all trades in MMA. Also, I've yet to encounter the adrenaline rushes you get from watching a good old boxing tear up, even the most exciting UFC fight (Griffin vs some guy I can't remember?) is fairly banal compared to boxing.Last edited by iamboxing; 04-25-2021, 11:09 AM.Comment

90% of stats show boxing as a top ten sport in terms of following not one shows mmaTo be honest, there's so many ways to lose in MMA that no one is going to keep an undefeated record for long.

Stats like...what? theres two areas where boxing still does better at this point and thats pay and participation rates.
Its so funny how you keep brushing aside the fact that all these 24/7 easily trackable numbers on multiple global sites like YT, IG, FB and Twitter consistently show the UFC generating far more interest than boxing. Like how the **** do you reconcile that with the narrative that boxing is bigger?Comment

I have a feeling those stats are about to become much lower now that Khabib left and Israel lost. UFC relies mostly on characters rather than the actual fights themselves, which let's be honest - 70% are absolute torture to watch. Boxing should strike now while the UFC is in a lull to win some of the public back.

100% of sites that track sports popularity based on global views have boxing above mma the only one that did not is tmlt87 who knows more apparently. Mma is not a big as boxing it’s not a big sport and won’t become one like i said instead of piggy backing off the bigger sport in boxing they came out trying to discredit the much more popular sport and alienated them self from some fans. The ignorant approach helped to mma never crossed over.

They're having possibly their strongest opening to a year ever right now, numbers wise, even with no Khabib. There is no lull, and there is always a high turnover of stars anyway.

I disagree about the 70% thing too, i think its the other way around. If you get a boring fight between fighters you dont care about in MMA at least its done in 15 minutes, and theres a stronger possibility that it could still end at any moment. With boxing the chances of a finish are lower, the finishes if they happen are usually less impressive and you can be there for 36 minutes, possibly topped off with a little bit of corruption to in the judging or refereeing to make it even ****tier.

I tell you what, heres a compromise - boxing as an overall sport is bigger than MMA as an overall sport, but the UFC is by far the biggest combat sports promotion on the planet.
Reasonable?Comment

I heard most of the card was boo'd. In fact Jack Paul showing up made everyone stop watching the fight in the ring.
