There will come a time when Claressa Shields will find a way to accomplish even more in the ring. For now, she is ready to take her talents to the cage. The two-time Olympic Gold medalist and three-division champion as a pro is officially set to make her mixed martial arts (MMA) debut. Shields will do so under the Professional Fighters League (PFL) banner, with her first fight to come June 10th and Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City.

She's training with Holly Holm and her team so she's with the people who have made the most successful boxing-to-MMA transition.

Hopefully she's working on takedown defense and how to avoid, check, and block leg kicks. She'll need a few years of BJJ/wrestling/Judo before she should even think about grappling with someone. She needs to be mobile and use the jab to keep her opponents away from her while she tries to pick her shots. She can't afford to get in too close and she doesn't want to stand still at range either and have her legs kicked out from under her.

Marshall getting KOs and isn't crying victim, instantly makes her much more likeable. She has the win she don't gotta chase Shields.

What legacy. She has beaten one-half-decent fighter in Hammer. At least Taylor has beaten McCaskill, and whilst I thought Persoon beat her both times, she still performed to a high level against an opponent in Persoon that is much better P4P than anyone Shields has beaten.

I think we'll see Shields in MMA, wrestling, hell, even NFL, if it gets her away from the beast that is Savannah Marshall. Shields doesn't want that smoke.
