Hagler vs Leonard - Let's Put it to Bed (Scores Only)

Before I post anything, RIP Marvelous Marvin Hagler. A great sportsman and exciting athlete in a strong era of talent. The 80's would have been much less exciting without him.

No disrespect, but we got to put this one to bed once and for all, too many people calling robbery.

Post your scorecard, let's see what you got. Any wankers posting trash without backing their comments up with scores goes right on ignore.

Just checked my old scorecard, and had it 115-113 Leonard.

      gave Ray 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10 and 12.

And as usual, calls of robbery always pertain to the one awful card. If three close scorecard get submitted likely there’s no debate

This was before my time and I'm still trying to learn my boxing history... With that being said. Was there controversy surrounding this decision back in the day? Who was claiming robbery? Did Hagler feel he won? Or was it mainly fans creating the noise?

That 9th round is one of the hardest rounds to score. I may have had it even at one point.

Ray got all the media attention back then out of the box and a lot of people hated him for it. Dapper, fast, flashy, gold medal, big starting deals. Hagler was a megastar in his own right but he had to fight to reach the stars. He wasn't an amateur star, he wasn't pretty, he wasn't fast or flashy, and he got no big starting deals. Eventually, he did all kinds of commercials and was well popular in the media. I think he represented the blue collar guy in a way. Nobody gave him anyhting, he had to take it, know what I mean?

People loved Hagler so much, there came a point where he couldn't lose even when he did. You got to take it from the champ! (which is such a weird thing to say or even think --- you lose, you lose, don't matter what you are or what you did). Pretty amazing phenomenon to be honest. People love you so much, you can never lose I mean look at Mayweather, people hate him so much they want him to lose and say he lost even when he didn't.

Hagler thought he won but he knew he didn't. Hagler was very much against the establishment. He feels like he was overlooked a lot because he didn't get a title shot until he had like 45 fights or something. Maybe he did, maybe the belts changed hands so much, I can't recall. More than likely, he was being mismanaged. Heavyweights got all the buzz and made all the cheese back then so these smaller guys were fighting different types of opponents than merely fighters.

There is your history lesson son. If anyone says any different than me, they're lying.

I'm not rewatching for the sake of this thread. I had Hagler winning 8 to 4. Leonard's theatrics and last second efforts wasn’t enough for me.
