That uppercut and then the 4 punch combo right after was def enough to stop it. I do understand the protest from fans though. UK be on that bull jive sometimes. But this WAS a good stoppage, imho. Just my 2 cents.

see, you guys CAN type sentences without using the word "a$$"

This is true. At the same time, let's say the ref let him continue to play squash with Vargas' head for another minute, would he have learned anything more?

A conclusive ending in a fight where a guy isn't trying to win or has lil chance to win holds lil appeal to me. And it seems like the powers that be in boxing agree thats a better way to do things.

And why are you acting all overly compassionate? This is a part of this new culture I have alluded to in boxing 'When I first joined these forums, you did not speak the way you are speaking now' I guess some people just buy into certain trends.
I don't think not wanting to see guys get severely injured or killed is "overly compassionate". The sport is rough & brutal on its kindest days. BUT that doesn't mean we just gotta beat the fook outta guys that aren't in fights just to have them get the fook beat outta them. I like competitive fights. Like 90% of boxing matches made aren't competitive alldamnready which is a huge problem for the sport to me. But there is no reason guys who aren't competitive need to get fooked up even more than they need to.

The referee's are getting more and more afraid to let fights play out or organically develop 'This is a side affect of this new culture in boxing'.

If Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua played out exactly like Benn vs Vargas 'People would be complaining in mass' YOU know what I am saying is correct.
As diarraisagod mentioned there is levels to this sport. At the tip top of the sport I think guys deserve more of a chance. I think they've proven they are able to compete at the highest level & are of the ring IQ to know how to handle situations. This fight we are discussing isn't a tip top fight. The higher up you go the more leeway I'm cool with a ref giving the fighters to handle stressful situations, the lower you go the less leeway I think fighters deserve to get outta a stressful situation.

What I am referring to when I speak about 'Freedom' is? Fighters in the back of their minds, in my opinion 'Are having to worry about a referee stopping the fight a bit too much' and this may affect their tactics and performance.
If your strategy & path to victory involves taking an ass whooping & being frozen from evading or fighting back as giant shots keep hitting you like you're Rocky I'd argue thats a dumb ass strategy & you probably got bigger issues than getting "freedom" in boxing.

There are 12 rounds in a fight, THAT fight was stopped in 82 seconds of the first round. YOU go and watch the fight back and tell me how long was attack that Conor Benn put Vargas under? The attack was approximately between 10-12 seconds.
And Vargas was eating big shots & not doing nothing or evading the shots. It don't matter if it was 10 seconds when as many shots can land in 10 seconds & did largely land in whatever time that exchange lasted.

So you are sitting there, and trying to tell me 'That a professional boxer, who is under attack for 10-12 seconds and is still on his feet' MUST be pulled out of the fight, because it is just too brutal? For me the fight should of been allowed to continue, and reached its conclusive ending.
Again its not just that exchange by itself to me. Vargas wasn't doing nothing. He wasn't fighting back, he wasn't evading very effectively & he seemed a lil frozen or stunned to do anything. Thats a thing that'll get you stopped standing plenty times in plenty countries.

Conor Benn was probably going to win, I just feel the fight was kind of stopped too early.

It was a good win for Conor Benn, but he is not learning anything from fights being stopped early.
I don't know what you think Conor was gonna learn beating on Vargas for most likely another 5 to 30 seconds til Vargas was on the ground KO'd conclusively.

Randomly did you lose money on this fight or something? Or is this just a legit you got issues with the stoppage thing? Hell for full disclosure I lost money on this fight, but I still don't see anything wrong with the stoppage.

        • I love Conors charisma and he's being moved at a good pace. Would love to see him beat the crap out of Broker.

Just the build-up to that fight would be epic. Would be a serious clash of personalities from the get-go. I feel bad for Broner though, he was led down the wrong path by muppets and squandered a promising Boxing career. Seen him on World Star Hip Hop the other week in court because he couldn't afford to pay the interest on his taxes. The man is definitely on the precipice, and Conor may well bludgeon him badly. Broner gone from Mayweather-lite to mini-Kevin Johnson.

            • Conor Benn, anxiously reacting to the fact that the announcer Dave Diamante was trying to get a grip on the mic before he erupted in laughter, as he read and STILL the '' World Boxing Association Continental Welter champion...'' -- you know that pretegious belt that has only been held by four people, including Conor Bent?

Well, no, because Diamante could literally read a card about how his mother had been torn to pieces by a herd of ferrets and would still do it without hitch and do you know why?

Cos Diamante would never get a job doing anything else in this world with such a FIIcKwit hairstyle.

Dave Diamante should be the official announcer for 'Trilla' boxing promotions.
