I’m willing bet that’s you’ve never laced on a pair yourself you keyboard warrior. Vargas has taken bigger punches than that from Spence, Garcia and Ortiz Jr. He still looked responsive and fine after the stoppage.

Well he wasn’t taking those punches tonight, considering he was laid on the ropes getting his head bounced all over and not able to throw a single punch back. He needed to either throw back, hold, or take a knee. He did none of those, instead using his head as a speedball for Benn.

Yes totally agree. Standing 8 count could have been administered IMHO. But honestly Vargas should have used his experience more in this fight. You cannot be taking shots on the ropes against the hometown fighters without expecting something like this.

Hard stoppage that, Vargas wasn't out on his feet, it was the 1st round and the 1st substantial attack but he was not defending well, not coming back with anything at all and was being lit up with head rocking bombs.

I suppose the ref can only live in the moment and that was not a great looking moment for Vargas. Personally, considering how early we were in and how little punishment Vargas had took at that point in the fight so far Id of liked to of seen him get a few more seconds to tie up, turn or fight his way out of that.

But I think we could all see Vargas was not going to cope with the speed and accuracy of Benn. Conor had that right hook to the temple pinned,. It would of only been a matter of time.

Quick stoppage... but once a guy's head is swinging around with every punch he's got no resistance. Every punch at that point is extremely dangerous to a man's health and Benn was landing every punch he threw. Vargas had hands up but not actually defending himself and certainly not in a position to throw anything back.

Personally, I'd rather see a fight stopped at that point than wait a few seconds and see a guy out cold or carried out on oxygen.

You can't really argue Benn didn't deserve it. He put Vargas in that position and the referee in the position where he had to make a decision.
