The bold is true. He wouldn't quit easily. But so far, his best competition, Prograis, is a B-. and Ramirez is at the same level. That Prograis fight was a fight Taylor barely won.
Regis was the more skilled fighter in the ring that day, although IMO he's more like a B+ than a B- in terms of raw talent (big fan of Rougarou both as an individual and a fighter) but Taylor had both a size advantage and just wanted it more... Taylor got some real spite in him and besides toughness and will can take a dude a long way, just look at Froch.
IDK man, I don't think Taylor's some elite level slickster or belongs at the top of the mythical P4P discussion but I also don't think that unifying or becoming undisputed in any division is to be sniffed at either. Doesn't need to be two master craftsmen going at it for me to enjoy the ebb and flow of action as one fighter tries to impose his will and skill on another. Not every fighter can be Floyd Mayweather Jr, man, and a big part of the fascination for me is seeing how different fighters get the most out of the attributes they have got.
Personally I'm really looking forward to the Ramirez fight... Got two dudes there who ain't gonna give an inch and whoever wins can rightfully claim to be the very best at their weight.
Doesn't sound like a big goal with these dime a dozen belts. Reach for the stars! 140 is a weak division and has been since Hatton and before.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You are a bias US fan. If Regis had won the WBSS you'd be singing his praises, talking about how he should be on the P4P list. Oh, BTW, it looks like your boy Tank might be behind bars before he fights ANYBODY relevant in his weight class. Taylor has already fought 3 fighters of higher quality than Tank's opponents so you're looking like a pretty big hypocrite right now.
Ramirez is tough but ain't all that. Taylor started a crap talking conversation with Davis. I wanna see that finished in the ring. Barrios is basically a tune up to you, be a man about it, IF you beat Ramirez.
Barrios and Zepeda KO Taylor, Ramirez and Prograis.

Exactly. How much time gets spent decrying belt holders who don't face each other and how there are multiple champions in each division. Here we have someone trying to become undisputed and somehow we have someone trying to downplay it because they say belts are dime a dozen. Belts have proliferated, no question -- and that's precisely why we want undisputeds!
And the fact that there are very few people who have achieved undisputed in the four-belt era shows it is not easy.

The best at 140 will turn out to be Barrios or Zepeda. Mark my words.

Got a whole lotta time for Chon and I thought you could reasonably have given him the nod over Ramirez plus he was unlucky as hell when he faced Turbo Terry here in Manchester... having seen what he's got since I woulda favoured him for the win if he hadn't have effed his shoulder. Nonetheless he does have those Ls on his record and at nearly 32 years old - and yet to win a title - time ain't on his side.
Barrios? yeah his time could come I guess, kid's decent although the Akhmedov fight showed some serious limitations (Batyr really shoulda got the nod there) ... two, three more years and he could be a divisional leader but I think some of the talent moving up from 135 might eclipse him. Talk is of Davis moving up to fight him this summer and I think Tank likely stops him.
Nonetheless right now it's between Taylor and Ramirez.

Tough fight for Barrios, but the second knockdown edged it for him. Taylor, Ramirez and Prograis do not impress me at all. I can stomach Ramirez, but Josh and Regis yap way too much. They hide at 140 for a reason.

Well you're entitled to your opinion man, but the wide consensus was that Barrios was extremely fortunate to get the nod.
Personality wise I got a great deal of time for Ramirez who seems genuinely dedicated to supporting his community and on the other hand Taylor kinda rubs me the wrong way with some of his bullchit. Regis? Comes across as a pretty cool dude to me... I'd go for drink with him.
Nonetheless this is about who's best in the ring and I think that not only will Taylor beat Ramirez but also that Regis would if they ever fought... in fact I think Regis would beat him easier than Taylor who I see grinding out a really hard fought decision. IMO Styles matchup just favours Regis in that one, but time will tell I guess. Luckily we get to find out in a few weeks who's best between Taylor and Ramirez.
What's your take on the potential Barrios vs Tank fight which I linked?
