  • Comments Thread For: Promoter Lou DiBella Sues Contender O'Shaquie Foster, Citing Breach of Contract

Promoter Lou DiBella has sued junior lightweight contender O'Shaquie Foster for breach of contract. In an 11-page lawsuit filed by attorney John Wirt with United States federal court for the Southern District of New York--a copy of which has been obtained by BoxingScene.com--DiBella is asking a court to uphold the validity of his promotional contract and to prevent Foster from fighting for another promoter. DiBella is seeking "in excess of" $500,000 in damages.

His parents should be sued for his Christian name, O’Shaquie??? WTF?

What is wrong with a good strong name like Alf?

yep it appears he actually had a “force majeure”, you're right others could learn to add such a clause rather than assume one after the fact ;-)

Nobody likes a courtroom so it gets settled, sooner then later due to it is a boxers short time to get the prize fighting money he spent (usually) most of his life developing and preparing for. Who did what wouldnt matter in a courtroom. It is a matter of who has the best attorneys and connections in the judical system. You know most lawyers dont like courtrooms they just use it as a last resort to get to negotiation that they want.

Fooked up situation. Without a TV deal a promoter can't really do much right now. Obviously I get the fighter wanting to keep it moving when he's living in an area thats putting on fights, but he's forced to sitting on his hands sucks too. Can't really hate on either sides feelings on this.
