Serious Question. How do we get boxing back to it's golden years when everyone cared?

Eliminate the abc trinkets. Only use the ring magazine title. Get rid of several weight classes. Serious look into a boxing commission.

Hate to say it but I don’t think we ever will. Not unless boxing gets a fighter who is so charismatic that he captures the fascination of the world. Like ALI or TYSON. We are talking eternally remembered names known by everybody. A very tall order but that’s what boxing needs.

boxing needs to use the UFC model as a structure for rankings, pay, titles.
Its simple and effective the way its done now is almost a model like how the federal government works with inefficient bureaucracy and someone getting a a billion dollars for one fight.
Yes I think alot of boxers are overpaid.

More talented fighters obviously. There's no clear cut a head of the pack guys these days and when there is it's because they have no one to fight like Wlad's era.
You can tell me America didn't give a **** because he's EE but I'm American, I know it's because the other guy in the ring was small, old, fat, or all three; unimpressive.
Fury's a fine champion except he's not clearly above Joshua, and hasn't but one actually note worthy win. He could do well potentially and be the next Tyson...could.
Canelo doesn't bother to clear a division.
TC doesn't fight anyone.
There are no impressive champions ruling and clearly dominating over impressive divisions. WTF do we have to attract new fans with? Joshua-Fury is a fan's fight not a casual's fight. Why would casuals care boxing might maybe come back to an era similar to Holy's? When it is, not might, then they have a reason to give a ****.

Depends on where you are, boxing is doing well in the UK, we are one of the countries who got on with it during the pandemic with shows after shows, Queensbury, Matchroom were getting boxing out there, UFC isn’t as competitive here as well.
Europe is doing well as well with shows in Italy, Germany and other countries there. Australia are doing live crowds as well.
So the only place not really keeping up is America. I think once the fans there start putting pressure on the promoters and boxers to start making the fights that they want, they the interest would multiply accordingly, but they are still busy saying stuffs like “Who has Crawford fought” instead of questioning why Team Spence aren’t making offers or interested in that fight for now, they are content in accepting Spence fighting any alternatives that are pushed unto them. That’s why boxing is going down and losing interest in America.

Cannot happen. Boxing lost the casual fanbase years ago. Back in the day, there were fights on free TV almost every weekend. On top of that, there were less channels which translated to high ratings and more mainstream recognition. Even casual fans who watched back then knew who some of the champions were. When those fights were pulled from the weekends and free TV and replaced by pay per view, the casual fans went bye bye and never returned.

Boxing is dangerous. It gives little financial benefit to the majority of athletes who box... yet people love it, and there is still a pipeline of potentially talented fighters. The promoters have destroyed boxing. No one is really willing to expose talented fighters to casual fans, promoters have taught boxers to wait on fights instead of develop. IMO the heavyweight division is the straw that stirs the drink here, with that in mind, here is what we get: Overweight lackluster fighters with relatively minor skills compared to their predacessors... And fans who are clue less about what a talented heavyweight even looks like. Then fans are suprised that there are few good fights...
The talent is potentially there if guys fought 3 to 4 times a year coming up, didn't care about "winning" so much as developing tangible assets in the ring. Arum is perhaps the worse. The greedy bstard does not even need the money, yet he has systematically destroyed the fight game with staggering fights.
I will say this... and there is good reason to tolerate the likes of Sid knee when he goes on a battle rant because of this... British fans are a relative light in the darkness of the boxing landscape. They are passionate, follow home grown talent, and are in general, like real fans are supposed to be... Opinionated from watchng fights, and willing to take the time to follow the sport.
Don King was horrible to fighters and I make no caveats regarding this issue when I say, he put on good cards. There needs to be a happy medium here where fighters are supported, fights are made, and fans are exposed to fighters.
Finally. I also think that because fighters are being pushed along, they are using the plodding, amateur style, only eventually going to a gym with a great trainer to unlearn some of the mistakes in that approach. But we are getting untalented fighters with no head movement, no foot movement, who clinch/cannot fight inside, etc. And then when a guy like Wardly actually makes an appearance and shows the type of skills fighters like Fury have (from training at an early age) and fighters of old had to develop... fans do not even recognize it! So fans have to also educate themselves as well.
