Considering how much of an underdog buster was, I’d go with that. Mike came in unprepared, so I’d say Bowe beat the more quality opponent, but the gap in skill, ability etc wasn’t as great between bowe and Evan fields as it was between Douglas and Tyson.

Douglas over Tyson. Bowe was a respectable undefeated world champ. Douglas wasn't.

Holy was a better fighter than Mike.

I understand the 44-1 underdog aspect. Mike let in the pimps and thugs and he was no longer dedicated to the sport. Ripe for a beating.

          Bowe over Holyfield for sure.

Tyson was in the midst of self-destructing and was looking for somewhere to lay down . He had a good chance of losing to anyone he fought in 1990. Douglas fought a great fight, a career best for sure, but Tyson helped him out by becoming a lot more beatable by fight night. There we probably 20 heavyweights who could have beaten that version of Iron Mike.

Bowe beat Holyfield when the Real Deal was at the peak of his powers as a heavyweight. Holyfield really wanted to win and prove that he could defend his title against a real, big, top heavyweight that wasn't a 40 year-old making a comeback (Foreman, Holmes). Bowe beat Holyfield at his best.

I think it's hard to argue that Tyson was a better fighter in 1990 in than Holyfield was in 1992, since we know who was better in 1996... So by that, logic Bowe has the better win. It just doesn't feel better because Douglas over Tyson is such a dramatic story. But in hindsight, beating Holyfield in '92 was harder than beating Tyson in '90.

Have any of you heard that Tyson was supposed to fight Ruddock in 89 but pulled out due to bronchitis? The story is he was already partying crazy and got knocked down by Page twice in sparring so they pulled out of the fight behind the bronchitis excuse.

Fast forward and he gets a new date for February 90 but gets a tune up versus buster and the rest is history.

Douglas. Both beat very good fighters, but Buster's win was a masterclass - he was brilliant. Dominated and knocked out the unbeatable undisputed champion.

Bowe's was close in a classic.

Rid**** Bowe vs Evander Holyfield is similar to Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury.

Mike Tyson was not in bad condition vs Buster Douglas, you do not withstand that type of bombardment when out of condition. I don't think Douglas completely dominated him ether, as he was knocked down heavily etc

Strange the way there was never no rematch, Tyson could of so easily re-matched Douglas in the mid-90s.

I can remember as a kid, people talking of a Douglas comeback around the Tyson vs Holyfield saga etc.

                Note: I have not voted.

Referee helped Douglas. He was counting him out almost twice slower than counting Mike Tyson out! And Mike took time to take cap back into his mouth.
