Comments Thread For: Hearn Reacts To Warren's Anger Over Fury-Joshua Deal Being Revealed

Eddie Hearn, promoter for IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, has reacted to the angry comments from Frank Warren, who co-promotes WBC world champion Tyson Fury. In a recent interview, Warren explained that he was blindsided by Hearn's recent interview with ESPN, where the Matchroom promoter revealed that both Fury and Joshua had signed contracts to face each other in a two-fight series.

Whatever the machinations, to me it seems like the premature announcement that the fighters have agreed to everything forces the various promoters to dispense with whatever small issues they had and get the whole deal done sooner than later.

Was a bit of a surprise because I thought they had done this months ago, so I guess the news is they have now not only agreed to the split etc, which they did months ago, but actually signed a contract specifying that agreement. There is still the location and site fee to be agreed upon so it could still fall over I guess.

Every single interview Hearn and Arum are asked about it, and both sides appear to be on the same page and working in good faith, so if Hearn had cleared it with Fury this sort of comes across as old Frank being a bit bitter as usual, understandable I guess, biggest fight in years with a fighter he "promotes" and he is basically a third wheel.

Hearn said he cleared it with Fury's team.

Not sure why he would also need to clear it with Bob's UK PA.

Arum and Hearn made statements. Does anyone really need to hear from Frank Warren as well?

He's lucky they even let him sit at the grownups table.

Young Edward can't control himself , a little like when he ran in the ring at the Froch v Bute fight to celebrate victory ..when the fight was still on! I was there , everyone looked at the dummy and each other like what's this wanker doing. He's not changed.

Let’s see what happens in the 28 days needed to confirm a venue and date. Great that everything is now signed. If after 28 days there isn’t an official announcement then a lot of people would not only be asking questions but they would be pissed also.

Do you really see that happening though? This announcement that a contract is signed puts a whole lot of pressure on both fighters teams to get everything agreed... comes across pretty calculated to me because now if one side does hold up the deal then the whole world will know about it and you can be damn sure that whoever got in the way of the fight happening would have A LOT of bad press because of it.
