  • Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez Seeks Long-Term Relationship With Eddie Hearn As His Promoter

Canelo Alvarez and Eddie Hearn have been going steady in their fighter-promoter relationship ever since the boxing superstar freed himself from his Golden Boy Promotions contract in November. Although Alvarez has since obtained his own promotional license, the sport's top pound-for-pound pugilist is open to the idea of forming a power pairing and moving forward with the Matchroom Boxing impresario.

They do make a good team and Hearn is a fan of Canelo unlike his other fighters so he’s trying to do the best for him which is a rare thing.

Don't we usually get a stream of posts along the lines of 'how's the takeover going?'

If its 1 or 2 fight deals I don't dislike that move. If he's trying to sign some 4 year deal or w/e with Eddie I think he's setting money on fire.

Canelo is the biggest name in the game & can have any & every promoter having to dance for their dinner & he should do that. No need for some long deal. But if he digs Eddie no need to flip around to other promoters either.

Eddie has a lot of his top guys on similar deals Whyte (is fight to fight) he really doesn't like unhappy fighters bad for business. It makes snse to have young fighters on deals so you can build them but all the top guys every promotion should be only for a couple of fights max.

Top Mexican fighter siding with a British promoter? As this is an unlikely union, Hearn must be doing something right.
