I think the lower weight divisions don't appeal to casual fans. Only hardcore boxing fans really watch these guys. Whereas for example, tons of people who watch Joshua fight, like only know a few other boxers.

I know someone who watches all of Joshua's fights, and his PPV's, he'll watch Dillian Whyte, and a few other SKY UK fighters and he didn't know who Pulev was when that fight got cancelled years ago, and Takam replaced him and he didn't know who he was either. At that time those were two top 10/15 HW in his fave fighters division, but hey, that's a casual for you.

I get why fighters can't get paid as much as they'd like if the matchups just don't produce the amount of revenue to sustain certain purses requests. But why is Yildrim getting paid that much? And why are promoters paying fighters? Shouldn't fighters pay promoters? The order of business seems upside down in the boxing world.

Leicesterage true but when it comes to Canelo who's the biggest A side in the game today 2.5 million is nothing for him to pay a sparring partner but guys like Estrada and Gonzalez have to scratch and claw their way just to make 1 million bucks!! SMDH

If Matchrooms fans weren't so annoying I'd probably like Eddie.

Yildram would have accepted much less, they only negotiated against themselves. Who else would have paid the bum 2.5 mill? No one. If all else failed canelo would have just dropped the belt which he had no problem doing in the past. Dazn didnt even want that fight, canelo must have them by the balls

Wrong Yildrim WAS the mandatory before Canelo even moved to 168, Benavidez was the champion and he was meant to fight Yildrim as his mandatory, he lost his belt at the scales, Canelo moved up and fought Smith for the WBA belt plus the vacant WBC belt.... Hence inheriting Yildrim who was the mandatory.

Well, based on most recent fight numbers, Spence may be overtaking Canelo. It seems like The WBC Carne Franchise Champion really needs the right dance partner. Right now, unfortunately, that's only Golovkin. Maybe Jermall. Maybe Eubank. Guys known to the mainstream. The figures for Saunders should be interesting.

What's really sad is hearing that even dancing with Canelo, Yildirim made way less than Crawford's guaranteed $4 million to lose 4 rounds to the ghost of Kell Brook.

Hearn " I dont know what Estrada got for the first fight" really ? Yea there is not way Eddie would know or even be able to find out.
Just sounds like he wants a third fight but has to get around the mandatory and who Estrada might want to fight after that. But there is no way for me to know that just like there is no way for Eddie to know what Estrada got in his first fight 8 years. Trivial but true. Whatever.

I get his point but there's no need to really say that. Yildrim was offered a life changing fight and like most he took it. How about Eddie stops signing mismatches? It's only because Canelo is the biggest name in the sport that Yildrim got so much, it's more Eddie/Canelo/WBC's fault for allowing such a mismatch and enabling a 'bum' to receive more money than better fighters who actually deserve that kind of purse.
