Charlo earned the right to fight Canelo in September of 2015. When he brutally beat down the reigning junior middleweight champ, Cornelius "K9" Bundrige. But instead of fighting for a championship belt at 154 against the young and hungry lion Charlo, Canelo chose to fight Amir Khan instead, a 147 pound fighter who didn't have a belt in any weight class.

He did the opposite and fought guys at 155 in what could have been unification fights but instead made them non title fights because of his catch weight requests. At 160 he didn’t try to unify with Andrade and allowed himself to he stripped several times. At 175 he took a cheap shot at Kovalev and ran out of the division before he even could put the belt around his waist. At 160 he had 3 mandatories and refused to make any of the 3. Matter of fact, he never made a mandatory in his entire career until Yidilgrim, who happened to be by far the easiest mandatory that was ever presented to him. It’s simple to see that he’s taking the route of least resistance. All that’s needed is some basic intelligence.
Route of least resistance yet Callum Smith and Billy joe Suaders are better than literally any fighter on andrade's resume, charlo's resume, or almost every one at middle weight for than matter. And you'd never see any of those guys moving up two weight classes to fight a sitting world champion

but they’re not better than charlo or Andrade. Callum smith got washed by Ryder while Saunders actually took banned substances when he was scheduled to fight Andrade. And who on their resume was better than Williams or derveyenchenko? They’re the easier route not matter how you want to slice it. Canelo is a major leaguer playing in the minor leagues with these brits.

This is the attitude that we need from some boxers, everyone feels entitled these days regards to getting a Canelo fight, just like all of them use to when Mayweather was around. Instead of taking fights that would spotlight them they wouldn’t.

All of them waited for Mayweather and refuse to fight anyone else, just like all of them are doing now with Canelo, Canelo cannot fight everybody, so am glad Benavidez recognises this.

PBC need to step up their game for 2021 and this fight has PPV written all over it.
