Which was the better win? Buster over Tyson or Tarver over Jones?

Thank you for proving my point, after Tarver Kod Jones, ancient(ancient because of the abuse hed already taken) Glen kod him right after again (Jones was cooked),& Tarver lost to him right after the best win of his career, even though he avenged it but still...(imagine if we we're talking about todays fighters, what the narrative would be)Last edited by kushking; 03-07-2021, 06:14 PM.Comment

That would only be the narrative because there are so many casuals who completely dismantle any fighter the second they take a loss, while also wondering why they won't step up. The #1 and #2 guys in a division will have a 12 round SD fight and the loser gets called a bum. It's disgusting.

That run of Glen's career was really something though IMO. People thought he was finished when he moved up from 168 only to watch him go on a run of beating Clinton Woods, Tarver, Jones, and Montel Griffen while losing really close fights to Chad Dawson and Clinton Woods.Comment

I'm assuming you're talking about the KO Tarver had over Jones. I'm gonna go with Douglas over Tyson. Even though RJJ got the nod first time, many people thought Tarver won or that it was extremely razor thin. A lot of great sequels ended up being short knockouts after a close first fight (ig Martinez vs Williams). NOBODY at the time could have thought about Douglas beating Tyson.Comment

This is utter bu!!shyte, Douglas would still have beaten the count if the ref and the timekeeper had synched up. Did Fury rob Wilder too?Comment

Johnson was in the form of his career when him and Tarver exchanged wins. I don’t think you can hold that against him, Johnson was far from done too, he was still a contender 5 years after beating Tarver. Hell he still pushed Carl Froch close about a decade later.
I said hes way more skilled than Wilder, but his 1 trick was that he had Jones number because of his power, take Jones out of the equation & hed be remembered as someone who was never truly elite? (He even lost to ancient Glen Johnson right after he kod Jones. )
I'm not saying he doesn't have skills, I'm saying that just like Wilder he wasn't skillful enough to beat the very best besides Jones,& he didn't have a great career aside from Jones fights(compared to the best)
Tarver had a very good run at 175. Two wins over Jones, beat Glen Johnson, Reggie Johnson, Griffin, stopped Harding, reclaimed a 175 belt against Woods. People forget Tarver put some good wins together to earn the Jones fight, he wasn’t some contender who just got lucky. He was in the right place at the right time but he had earned that position. When Jones moved up to fight Ruiz, Tarver established himself as the man for Jones to beat at 175 by beating Montell Griffin and claiming the titles Jones had left behind.Comment
