    How good is Matt Skelton?

I have never seen this guy fight and I'm interested in hearing an assessment of what his style is like and can he, at 38, make an impact in the HW division?

He is like Ruiz only a lot dirtier. He dives in with his head, chucks an elbow or 2, pushes opponents.. he is a rough house type of fighter that seems to get the job done. The fight last Friday was not pleasing to the eye, ugly fight.

I have seen Skelton's last 10 fights and he likes a punch up, he's not a great boxer but he is very effective. He can punch as well, he has got a lot of power.
The only problem with skelton he is 38 so they will be trying to get him big fights soon, There trying to get a fight with Danny Williams in the summer, if he comes through that, Frank Warren has said they want him to get a shot at the WBO title.

A name to watch out for in the Heavyweight division Roman Greenberg he is currentley in America, he has got 2 fights lined up. He is only 22 and is a good prospect.

How the Hell does Boxrec work? Is it just based on fights won, with no intent given towards quality of competition? Brewster (a belt holder, albeit the lesser one) isn't even top twenty.

Somehow Audley Harrison and Skelton have snuck their way up to places 13 and 14 respectively. I quite like the way Harrison is slowly putting himself into contention without actually doing anything much, but Skelton is no better than European level. (Even though he now has a "world" title).

skelton has done very well in such a short space of time, and he comes from a kickboxing background. i dont think he is much worse than the current crop of terrible heavyweight champions and contenders. i dont think he would look out of place with rachman, golota, brewster etc he is supposed to be fighting williams next and he has a good chance of winning this fight

Yeah, I'd place money on him beating Williams, but only because of the conflict of style. Obviously in terms of skill then he's possibly the crudest fighter out there.

Anyone who says he's **** is wrong, he's very raw and lacks real boxing skills but the guy can fight!!

IMO Skelton could do things at world level, he's a big, strong, tough, puncher. He'll never be a hall of famer but but he'll make for some interesting fights.

I'm picking him over Williams, i think Williams is by far the better boxer but Skelton will rough him up and take him out. IMO Warren's building Skelton up on Williams name, i think he expects Skelton to win and be in a position for a big fight after.
