What Canelo did at 175 vs Kovalev isn’t new. Pacquiao did it vs Margarito at 150 cw, who wasn’t ranked as a top 154 fighter. SRL fought Lalonde at 168 for Lalonde’s 175 belt and vacant WBC 168 belt. So this is nothing new. Canelo is not a light-heavy weight. Idk what some fans think they gain from clinging on to Canelo fighting Kovalev at 175. I’d love to see Canelo vs Bivol and Beterbiev but if the guy isn’t comfortable fighting naturally bigger and taller guys than him and he is basically admitting it, then stop calling for it or you go become pro and fight Beterniev. It reminds me of fans calling for Mayweather to fight GGG. People are ridiculous.

It’s definitely not new and it’s not a video game so every fighter has a limit. The Pacquiao fight with Margarito is a great example and no one expected Manny to fight junior middleweights.

I am trying to figure out if Mayweather had more haters in his day than Canelo has now. It is close, but I am inclined to say that Mayweather was hated more. This is a movie I have seen before.
