If Roach believes that Cotto is Going Downhill, Then Why Was Miguel Chosen for Pac

Very insightful ts. This is classic Freddy "Drain Em" Roach.
This is also why they're gonna wait till JMM is 40 to give him a rematch. Maybe by then the fight will be easy enough for Pac to win decisively.Comment

Cotto is an easier fight of Pac's first true WW test than Shane would be. This doesn't mean that Cotto is a pushover, but his style suits Pac better.Comment

The closest thing you could get to an African American fighter. Cotto has some African blood but not 100%.Comment

By Manuel Perez: It’s weird how people accidentally expose their true beliefs by the slip of the tongue. I noticed that Freddie Roach, the trainer for Manny Pacquiao, has been saying that Cotto has slipped somewhat as a fighter and that Roach is going to take advantage of that by having Pacquiao capitalize on Cotto’s problems.
My question is why would Roach and Pacquiao want to fight Cotto if he is going down hill as a fighter? That seems kind of unsporting if you ask me. Why not take on Shane Mosley, Andre Berto or Paul Williams, so that Roach and Pacquiao can have someone that’s not going down hill or in physical decline.
I mean come on, Pacquiao has already fought two consecutive fights against fighters that were in their decline in Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton, why does Pacquiao need yet another fighter that is slipping? How can that be interesting or sporting? It like saying, ‘Hey, let’s go hunting.” And instead of going looking for some big game, you get a cage full of chickens and start shooting away at them while their still cooped up. There’s no sport in that, is there?
I think Cotto has little left, probably enough to beat the little Filipino, unless the act of taking on excess weight to get to the 145 pound catch weight ends up draining Cotto of his strength. It might just do that, you never know. Pacquiao didn’t want to fight at the full welterweight limit of 147, hence we have Cotto having to drain down to 145 to give Pacquiao a handicap in their November 14th fight.
I know that Roach is thought of as a near genius by some, but I’m starting to think he’s really losing it. Roach needs to shut his yap before he taints the fight. The way that Roach is flapping his gums 24/7 putting Cotto down, it’s virtually guaranteeing that Pacquiao won’t get any credit should he win the fight.
Normally, when a trainer or fighter thinks they have an easy fight, they build up their opponent to make their accomplishment that much bigger in the public’s mind. Roach is doing the opposite of that by tearing Cotto down. It’s bad enough that Roach and Pacquiao chose for the fight to take place at catch weight and then asked for the title to be on the line at that weight.
That is really some bizarre stuff. Cotto has to fight at a handicap, even though he’s the champion. Is there something wrong with this picture? Additionally, why has Cotto been selected when he’s supposedly going down hill as a fighter? To me, that’s cherry picking of the highest order.
Pacquiao is supposed to be the number #1 pound for pound fighter in boxing, yet here is taking on a beatable fighter rather than Mosley, who is regarded by most boxing experts to be the top fighter in the welterweight division. I don’t know how to look at it other than Pacquiao and Roach are cherry picking opponent.
You know, I really like Pacquiao a lot as a fighter up until now, but Roach has really caused me to lose respect for Pacquiao. I now am hoping that Cotto knocks Pacquiao’s head off on November 14th so I can gloat afterwards.Comment

Anybody that aint on Cottos **** can see he's heading downhill and is the easiest fight of the three and we know the other two are Mosley and Floyd. They want no part of Shane (They Being Pac Cotto Or Floyd, RIGHT NOW...Not last year or two years ago-right now) and thus Roach & Arum want Cotto and make no mistake Arum is feeding Cotto to Pac to make Pac happy not Cotto, Arum looking at Cotto like the old ***** with a loose box after he get a brand new hoe lmao...Thats the truth and Cotto will fuel the manufactured P4P status Pac has going. Cotto does not have the skills style speed stamina or will to win this fight. He is banking on Pacs punches not hurting him and his hurting Pac very bad. But, honestly Cotto didn't have enough speed to get Clottey he was beating on his guard most of the night. Cotto's only shot is winning within four to six rounds and he will have to be able to walk through the shots and be able to hit and hurt Pac or he a dead man, he will not get a gift this time cause the money is with Pac and frankly he is not a good enough skilled fighter to fight a chess match and win here. I Want Cotto to win myself, it just seems like asking to much of a guy that hasn't looked impressive in a few years and has no trainer a promoter that is throwing him under the bus and a ton of question marks around him.
Pac should be fighting a better fight, if he supposed to be #1 he should have waited on Floyd or took Mosley at 140. I don't wanna hear the Mayweather didn't take the fights either, I thought Pac was the new face of boxing that didn't duck anyone and was a humble guy etc etc...nah he an opportunist that took the money just like every other fighter would have and this will not only get him paid but % wise it's the easiest fight to get him up a notch so they can demand a little bit more from Floyd. But, Floyd will not let Arum hoe him at all, he will get 70-30 or 65-35 like Pac is or I think he will fight Mosley and leave Top Rank & Pac to fight P.Williams or whoever the popular guy is that everyone says someones ducking and then what?
I'm not a hardcore Pacquiao fan even though I like and respect the way the guy fights inside the ring. But I always speak highly of his actual abilities as a fighter regardless of the careful matchmaking that he has benefited from. Arum is trying to sell this fight as an Outback steak when it is only a McDonald's Big Mac. And that is real talk. Shane Mosley poses the tougher challenge unless he has gotten ring rusty and old overnight.Comment

You know Dap, I like JMM a lot but I hope he doesn't start this trend like Pacquiao is doing of draining fighters down to catch weights. Nacho came on BScene a few days ago and mentioned that JMM would like to challenge for a Welterweight title after he beats Floyd, "Possibly at a catch weight." God help us man.Comment
