a lot of people act like De La Hoya started his career at Welterweight. he actually had a pretty darn good resume at 135 and 140.

his wins over Quartey and Pernell are pretty controversial, but at the same time he should have gotten the nod over Trinidad, so I dont see how anyone can say he lost all his big fights.

I will have to go with Oscar De La Hoya. I don't mean underrated as in nobody knows who he is, because it's the total opposite. They guy has just never really gotten the props as the real champ he was. He was an amateur standout and won an Olympic gold medal. They guy had one of the best left hooks in the business. Great footwork. Always had his chin tucked, good chin. Fought anybody that was put infront of him. Gave everyone he fought alot of problems (except Pacquaio). Great finisher, often made entertaining fights (Mosley 1 and Quartey). Very poised and relaxed fighter. Used his jab properly. Had an laright defense. When I come here I read DLH is overrated and stuff like that and almost no one gives him props for him accomplishments including becoming a 6 division world champion. Sure as a promoter he is greedy and what not, but I thought he outboxed easily a monster in Trinidad with a masterful gameplan. Oscar De La Hoya the most underrated fighter of the past 15 years to me.

I think you meant to say most OVERrated

DLH has never been underrated.... never. He is not the Golden Boy for nothing. Personally I always believed he was overrated and only recently has his reputation been tarnished.

Of course when you get a gift against an unknown, then take a dive in your next fight, then you **** your pants having the so called greatest p4p fighter in your presense who is also scared ****less, then quitting against a fighter that is more than a few divisions below yours will do that to you. Especially with the kind of hype jobs the guy creates for his fights.

Why? Because he chooses to disagree with you? Grow the F up!

I agree with the guy about Rid**** Bowe. Had Bowe had some dedication and a little more sense with a little less Rock Newman he would have reigned for a long time. He was that good physically! Unfortunately we only got to see his peak very briefly.
