  • Haha, as much as I'd pick Cotto to win the fight, I love how every opponent Pacquiao has faced has said the same damn thing. Either that he's too small(which Cotto has), or that his past accomplishments are overrated(Cotto has). Every fighter was KOed that has said this. It's almost like Pacquiao's aura of invincibility look in the ring get's his opponents intimitated to the point they have to think of anything just to believe they can win. While I'd give Cotto the best shot out of Pacquiao's last 3 opponents, I find it funny how he sounds just like the last 3.

Yea, and cotto will be any where from 158-165 lbs.

      /argument
I'm not talking about who was heavier between JMM and Pacman, My point is that Pacman for a 130 fight weighed in at 143 and for the DLH fight came in at 148 and that's the fighter that you called "blown 140lber". Beleive me, for this fight he will be over 148 fight night because he has 2 consecutive fight at 140 or over and they will concentrate on his strenght, there fore they will try to build him bigger and stronger without losing his speed.

On Cotto side, I agree that he will be close to 158 but that's it. Cotto has never weigh in over 160 (fight night) for any fight, even when he has weight in at 147 weighed in.
What makes you think that he will weigh 160lbs or more with a 145 weight limit????
By these facts the difference between both boxers will be 10lbs or less (IMO more close to 8) not the 10 lbs+ you say. We have seen in the past difference on fights night, between boxers of the same division and that have weighed in the same on the weigh in for the fight.
Example, have you not seen that Clottey has weighed in at 147 and fight night has gone up to 168, and like that, there have been plenty of fighters that have gone up almost 20 lbs from the limit during fight night.

      Argument???

Miguel, there will be no war in your fight against Manny. Your eyes and your mouth will be blooded once again. You won't have a chance to put your knee down for the count. Your whole body will be sprawled on the floor like a log.Not only that, you will lose your legal fight against your uncle. The money you will receive in this fight will go down the drain. This problem of yours will dog you out throughout your training and you will have no piece of mind.

That's what a lot of people here said before each of Pacquiao's last 5 or so fights (apart from the Diaz fight). So far he's proved them wrong every time, but they still say it again before his next fight, and suddenly think of an excuse for his previous win, even though they had predicted he would lose his previous fight.

If he beats Cotto you'll say Cotto was overrated, or maybe you'll say he was shot - and then when Pac's next fight is made, you'll say "I've been saying it for a while... I like Manny but he is in over his head and is being overrated" - hoping that no one notices that you said exactly the same thing about his previous fight.

What it comes down to is that you don't like Manny at all, you just want people to think that you do.

You don't understand the way oddsmaking works. The favourite is the one who attracts the most bets. If Cotto's fans start betting on Cotto in bigger numbers, the odds will immediately shorten.

dejavu. Trust me someone will find a reason to discredit Pac no matter who he beats.

That's like saying that Calderon in way better than Cotto. Cotto would destroy Calderon, and he would beat Marquez easily. He's too big and powerful. Unlike Pac, Marquez can't put on weight without losing speed. His maximum peak weight is 130 - whereas Pac has already proved he can fight effectively at 140+, without noticeably losing any speed or power at all.

And even in terms of skills, to say Marquez is way better is just ignorant - they're just very different. Cotto is just as accurate and has just as good timing. Marquez is a much better counter-puncher but Cotto is a much better body puncher. Marquez has a better uppercut and Cotto has a better hook.

I don't think there's a single analyst who is obviously better than anyone else. But the most respected are people like Bert Sugar, Doug Fischer, Larry Merchant, Hugh McIlvanney, Monte D. Cox and so on - none of whom have boxed professionally.

In terms of predictions, a classic example of my point about boxers being terrible judges of each other was the Mayweather-Boldomir fight. Almost every boxing analyst predicted an easy win for Mayweather, but when the top Welterweight fighters were asked to make a prediction, they were evenly split about who would win, and even those who favoured Mayweather predicted that it would be a very tough and competitive fight.
