Marquez is way better than Cotto. You don't have to compare their fights against other boxers. Just watch how they fight against anybody and you will see the difference in technical skills.

He pretty much stood there while Plasterito pounded him against the ropes. If he does that with Paq he's a dead man walking.

It baffles me how you think that Cotto can take Mosley Clottey and Margaritos plaster hands for 11 rounds but cant take a natural 135lbers punches

Cotto is going to win this, he has trouble against physically bigger guys who have a good work rate i.e Margarito and Clottey, Cotto was boxing brilliantly for the first half of the fight against Margarito (Marg could have excessively wrapped his hands for this fight also) but the punches caught up with him later in the fight, I feel cottos strength and underrated boxing ability will prevail in this fight which is a shame cos it would have been good to see PBF and Manny fight with both on a high.

Manny And The Angel: A Gunslingers Tale

The Streets of Lost Wages are clearing. The anxiety that precedes the arrival of two feared gunslingers can be felt from the beaches of Puerto Rico through the cruel terrain of the Philippines. This nervous energy will center itself within a squared circle in the Las Vegas desert with thousands attending and many more watching with breathless anticipation all about the globe, as two men pack the cool of the evening with another kind of heat.
It shall be a ''Bad Day At Black Rock'' for one of these hired guns come pay day. The word spreading throughout the journals that report on such matters appear to sanction Mr. Miguel Angel Cotto as the probable victor in this shootout against a small but dedicated foe named Manny. At least that is what the scales of journalistic justice seem to read at this moment. But there are still months left on the calendar before this argument can be settled in the way all true seekers of glory do. Therefore, speculation remains our only companion as we await the initial muzzle flash.
Now , what about this Manny Fella? Some say he's just a little guy who has finally selected an opponent he cannot expose as either wounded (De La Hoya) or over rated. (Ricky Hatton.) Some state that he has chosen to trade lead with a true tough guy with guts and nuts and a spirit as hard as the streets he grew up on.
Others contend that this stranger from a different kind of Philly, is one of the best pugilist's that has ever laced leather. A gentle man who has traveled thousands of miles and covered forty plus pounds to stand his ground against potential greatness. Yup. Can't dispute the obvious. This Manny guy is from another world. A world where gravity can be suspended, where the appearance of meager talent can be transformed into magnificence and where speed, determination and intrinsic, fighting intuition become the stuff dreams and legends are made of.
Okay. Now what is it about this Cotto fella that's got the world thinking that he's got the stuff to match such an unusual gunman? Well, there was this Mexican assassin named Margarito who was sent to dispatch Miguel with weapons that were fully loaded. Not loaded with the traditional fire power used in such debates, but the kind that could plaster a man all over the territory. And so it came to pass that Mr. Cotto was left for dead on a cold canvas, painted with his heart's blood. All hailed the mighty Mexican until it was speculated upon and then confirmed in a subsequent contest, that his guns were not the sanctioned kind. Cotto's '0' still had to go.
Things were goin' pretty swell for the man after he recovered from this brutality that life dealt him. He took on a couple of challenges that required little confidence given his size and anger. The opponents fired lightly but at times with consequence. And then one night in New York City, he encountered another gunfighter whose skills were violent and whose courage was rare. He went by the name of Joshua and not unlike his biblical counterparts, he sought the road to redemption by engaging The Angel for twelve devoted stanzas. After the song was sung, Miguel triumphed in the eyes of those who judge such matters. But he paid a price. A price he appears to pay whenever the stakes get higher and quick fists enter his field of dreams and vision. The Angel was pushed to a limit that exceeded expectations. With each shove from such a gunman, a man like Miguel get's closer to a cliff which requires intense stamina, devout courage and an arsenal of bullets which have yet to be expended. These are the tools badly needed to avoid falling off of the top of the world.. A different Angel seems to whisper that Mr. Cotto is coming to that fork in the cliff and that this Manny has the precise weapons to foil his fistic argument.
As the weeks grow into month's, each warrior will enter a process of transformation as they prepare their bodies, minds and souls for the nerve attacking contest to come. Body. Mind. Soul.
The Angel will have to dig very hard to discover the secret passage that contains the ammunition that can put down the pure, joyous talent that Manny has been blessed with. When he arrives at his moments of truth, a smile of calm configures the little man's state of being. He knows he is truly at home. An impending battle brings him a sense of peace. How many men possess such an agreement with themselves? This artist will eventually be placed in memory in a town called Canastota, where only the best gunslingers who ever lived serve out eternity, some while still breathing.
As a man who enjoy's a good gunfight, I contend that The Angel has yet to be blessed with enough talent to enter such a portal. Given this damning reality, how could I anticipate anything other then a stirring shootout until Miguel runs out of the magic bullets required to redeem himself from such demanding Hellfire.
Manny should be capable of engaging his undeniable physical and spiritual integrity, combined with remarkable self confidence. This and the guidance of a gallant High Priest named Freddie Roach should instigate a blast of fury from the opening moment of brutality, allowing the Philippine phenomenon to succeed on cuts by the ninth episode.
The Angel has simply not seen that immaculate mountaintop which Manny occupies. He does not have that particular blend of the mental and spiritual which translates to overcoming the physical.
When the smoke clears, a sense of calm shall embrace the dark, seemingly endless, desert landscape. Should Floyd Mayweather escape the clutches of the personal demons which he displays as attributes rendering an articulation of false bravado, a gunfight of another type could address the streets.
And the landscape shall be altered once again as the Angels sing anew in reverence of a craft which will always be in demand, as long as there is glory to be sought and silver to be paid, out of respect for such courage.
It is always High Noon for the Gunmen of the world.
