Fernando Montiel vs Eric Morel is Ordered By The WBO

Fernando Montiel can forget about his plan of getting Vic Darchinyan or Joseph Agbeko. At the ongoing WBO convention in Budapest, Hungary, WBO president Paco Valcarcel ruled that Montiel must defend his WBO bantamweight title against the mandatory Eric Morel. [details]

Fernando Montiel is in my opinion one of the best technical fighters of today, I would like to see him take on the challenge and improve on the quality of opponents and fight the elite of the sport. juanma/donaire/vic any of these guys would be great matchups... I hope they can be made soon enough, for Montiel needs much more exposure to showcase his abilities in the ring. Without forgetting that another belt in a different division would put him amongst the best mexican boxers of all time..

i think agbeko and donaire would be good, but juanma? that guy is too big,he's moving up too.....anyways,montiel already answered donaires challenge and told his promoters to make the fight as soon as possible, donair? he said he wants to rest for a while,

Five years ago this would have been a great fight at super-flyweight. Can't see Montiel losing to Morel now. The question is, will the WBO let Montiel go ahead with his Sept. 12 beat-down of French pastry Jerome Arnould? Or will he have to give up his bull**** Arnould defense to fight Morel?

Montiel comes prepared he will win the fight, he can't look past Morel who is also very skilled but not the same guy 4 years ago. It will be a good platform for Montiel to launch him to bigger fights

Montiel should fight Penalosa instead......Penalosa was the previous champ who never vacated or lost the WBO belt.......the winner wll be the legitimate champ and will have the challenge of the mandatory in Morel

I think the 50/50 split is fair.He canceled on the guy, then dismissed him for another fight.Morel's been waiting in line forever.Montiel postponed due to an injury the last series of latin fury they were supposed to fight on.
