for one they didn't want the belt at first and it wasn't in the contract and two.. the fight isn't a true welterweight fight.
Well, not that your opinion will reflect on the actuality of the situation, but you do realize that a welterweight fight can take place at any weight between 141-147lbs?

If he wins, and it definitely is still an IF...he will be the WBO welterweight champion. The records will show this.

He isn't a welterweight. So the fact that he's fighting arguably the best welterweight in the world is a statement in itself.

Pacquiao, by stature, is probably a lightweight/jr welterweight naturally.

He's going up and fighting much larger men, and is at the moment the sport's biggest draw. Why not use that drawing power at the bargaining table and meet at a weight that gives your opponent less of a size advantage.

The same idiots that probably thought Pac was THE lightweight champ after beating David Diaz.

yeah but if a fighter isn't aloud to make the fight at the welterweight limit (which is 147) it isn't a true welterweight fight... & it doesn't matter, to the majority of fans Pac won't be a welterweight champion because of his little b.s. clauses on the contract including the weight.

i'm the same guy bro....just i'm not one of those crazy fans that say that pac will destroy cotto or cotto destroy pac.

i'm a fan of both but cotto is no DLH or hatton. against another 140 contender yes but not against cotto

IMO if Pac wins it just says that the WBO recognizes him as champion in weights from 141-145
