earliest memory was trying to utilize the iron on patch our local newspaper put in the Sunday edition for the upcoming "Thrilla In Manila," 1975...next thing I remember is watching Sugar Ray stop Andy Price in 1979...

First fight I saw was DLH-Trinidad, I never cared about boxing before, but it was such a huge event that I payed close attention. I had just turned 12.

From that point on I watched all the big fights, and also old Ali fights, but it wasn't until I was 17 (2004) that I started reading about the history of the sport and following it more closely.

As a kid growing up in NYC the late 60's, I could never understand why my dad liked watching a black and white TV where two guys in a squared ring would hit each other to no end as some monotone voiced person narrated the action.

It didn't interest me then, and found it boring to watch cause I didn't understand it.

Now zooming forward to the late 70's and early eighties, and having found an interest in sports and martial arts, I started noticing how exciting some Olympic and pro boxing matches were on Wide World Of Sports, and I caught the bug since then.

I can remember becoming a big fan of boxing and the stylists, and always looking forward to watching Mark Breland, Sugar Ray Leonard and Hector Camacho and his wild costumes.

Then the Tyson era hit and I was hooked for good.
