YAHOO SPORTS!! Has Paul Williams P4P Number 3..............

Hm, I don't know. I like Williams, but he hasn't really fought very many elite level fighters to be that high in rank.
Winky, Margarito, and Quintana were probably the best he's fought, which IMO isn't all that impressive.
I will say this though.
He hasn't really recieved many opportunities to fight elite competition because of him being a high risk/low reward fighter. -
That's right where he should be. When Mayweather and Pac are gone in a few years, he will take over as the new P4P king. Perhaps sooner, if he can get a fight with either one (unlikely)Comment

What justifies his place that high in your opinion ?
I am definitely impressed by his ability to move up in weight and beat Winky Wright, but other than that and a close win over Margarito....I don't see how he deserves to be ranked above some of the other fighters on that list.Comment

4 of the biggest boxing stars are crying about catchweights, while the Punisher is literally roaming 3 weight classes looking to fight the best & all his haters can do is ask why he's ranked so high by Yahoo??Well maybe they see what simple people can't,at least someone is pound for pounding on a literal scale between 3 weight classes!!

It shouldn't just be about who's more proven. On ability I could argue Paul Williams is number 1 already. But I won't do that until he has more quality wins.Comment

His frame allows him to move up and down in weight without problems.
And I didn't notice anyone 'hating' in this thread.
What Williams is doing is impressive, but the guy is a freak of nature, and the fact that he can get down to 147 is a damn feat in itself.
It shouldn't be about who's more proven ? WTF ?
What other objective way is there to prove who the best is ?
Abilities are put to the test in fights. The better the opposition, the more effective one's abilities are proven.
Quality wins, as you put it, against quality opposition is the way this is done, and like I said, I am a huge P-Will fan, but I don't think he has done enough against elite competition to be ranked higher than some of the fighters on that list.
And again, its not completely his fault. He's an extremely high risk-low reward fighter, who is going to continue to have a hard time getting quality fights.Comment

Your argument against Williams would hold more weight if he wasn't already a 3 time World Champion. He's definitely proven enough to arguably be ranked this high. On a combination of his ability and what he's already done, he's top 3 for me.Comment
