He's young but needs ALOT of work.. He needs to work on his foot movement. His power seems to be overrated being that Smith was a welterweight that moved up in weight to fight him and had him going back most of the fight. The plus is that it was good experience and he's still young but he needs to get a better trainer and work on alot of things.. He has some pretty good skills though he just needs to really work on them.
What did you guys think of Danny Jacobs last night?

Danny Jacobs is great. I loved the way he stood up to fight and looked like he wanted to scrap.
Kinda reminded me of Margarito at times when he would nod his head at Smith after taking a hit.
I love that ****.Comment

First of all, Jacobs is not a weak puncher, look at his KO rate. He might not be a big puncher but he has some pop and can suprise you with fast punches you dont see comming. I watched some of his fights and he seems verry talented to me, but the fight against Smith was a step up and he didnt look to spectacular but hey, hes just 22 and has to take it to another level, he has the tools and talents to do it, hes just not ready yet for Top10 guys or a title shot. But the middleweight division is verry weak and it would suprise me if he will not be a champion sometime down the road. I mean look at the Top10 of middleweights right now! Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams are the best and the only really goog fighters in this division.Comment

His KO rate has absolutely nothing to do with whether he is a big or a weak puncher. Way to show your ignorance!
He knocked out his 1st 9 opponents who had an average record of 5-4 and who are very used to being KO'd. Fighters are built on stiff bums now a days and this makes them look like Tarzan when a lot of times they are really Jane's.

Considering he is young, still at the prospect stage, and Smith was the best opponent he has fought so far, I would say he passes this test.....He still has a plenty to learn but should keep fighting opponents at Smith's level for a few fights. His ko% is a product of his sub-par opposition it will go down drastically as time goes on I think.Comment

I thought that this fight overall was a great learning experience. He got caught and somewhat hurt and fought back like a champ. He didn't get into the theatrics and kept his composure.
He really needs to be 100% committed to defense though. But overall he's is a solid fighter.
great fight for him. From his 175 weight at fight night he looks destined to be a supermiddle. The kid needs to put it together all those punches were wasted IMO and he needs to stop standing straight up with his hands down when he is moving from inside to outside. That said Ishe Smith fought the fight of his life, awesome effort, just not good enough which really says something about Jacobs. I think he'll do good things.Comment

Yes of course i know. But still i dont see him as a soft puncher, his power is ok. But people shouldnt be to disapointed, Smith was an good opponent who came in great shape and with big confidence, hes really wanted to win, a big step up for Jacobs and he passed the test. But lets see where he goes from here, i think he can take his game further and there is much room to improve. His KO rate has absolutely nothing to do with whether he is a big or a weak puncher. Way to show your ignorance!
