We don't get to see the fight until friday in England. Was this an impressive win for Cotto? or for the first time have we seen his weakness, how good is cotto's chin?? Was the weight a problem for cotto?
How good is Cotto's chin??

There were some decent aspects to his win - he did look powerful and pretty accurate but he did have a massive weight advantage. His defence was crap and his punch resistance was worrying. People have been trying to play it down a bit by saying it was a freak shot behind the ear but I've seen plenty of guys hit there without having the reaction that Cotto did against a fairly weak punching and much smaller man. The weight loss didn't appear to effect his stamina but it could have been an issue in his lack of punch resistance. He did come back well though and was taking over when it was stopped. -
Cottos chin is still as great as everybody thought, he just got caught with a shot on the button that would have stumbled anybody who got hit with it. Cotto is still the man.Comment

my sentiments exactly. the only thing we learned about this fight is that Corley may be one of the all-time worst finishers in boxing history.Originally posted by spinksjinxCottos chin is still as great as everybody thought, he just got caught with a shot on the button that would have stumbled anybody who got hit with it. or, the only reason the fight was given to corley was on the condition that he lose. the guy is a former champion and a professional, he knows when a guy is ready to go, i think once he had cotto hurt he let up on him so he didnt knock him out, fixed fightComment

Did you see the look on Corleys face when he saw Cotto stumble. He hit Cotto with that great shot and backed up and waited to see Cottos reaction, he saw Cotto stumbling and was like
I replayed that look like a thousand times...It was great....Corley is a funny guy, especially when he got busted on the hip and he ran...That fight was so great, I laughed through the whole thing.

yea, that whole incident was funny. I heard PR gasp from my couch in Tallahassee, Fl.
Corley was definitely
after he saw Cotto out on his feet. Thats why he threw some of the worst punches of alllllll time to try and take Cotto out. That was not fixed.

the fight was a good fight overall, stop too early IMO, but Cotto did not get hit on the chin ,it was more of a temple shot that rocked him good, Chop Chop did not use this to his advantage at all. I think for the first time we have seen Cotto's weakness, had he been in there vs PBF or Kostya or any greater fighter, his record would not be a perfect one anymoreComment

Good post, Indeed as stated earlier Corley isnt a good finisher at all. Its like he isnt expecting to win, but he catches his opponent with a good shot and then acts surprised. Corley isnt a ko artist but always seems to knock the best fighters out on their feet but fails to capitlize on it.
He did starched Mayweather and could have had him out in the 4th provided he went to work.
One thing that was odd about Corley was he rocked Cotto good and went straight working to the body. Why didnt he hit the place that was hurt? I realize body work is a good way to break down your opponent but if he is hurt you focus on that point.Comment

k
Cotto just didnt see the punch coming. He didnt expect to get hit there and thats the main reason he was so hurt from the shot. When you dont expect to get hit with something and you dont see it coming it feels 10 times harder than it is.Comment
