Who ever wins on PBF-JMM would be the immenent opponent of the winner in Pac-Cotto. If JMM and Pac prevails, then Pac-JMM III would be inevitble and equally explosive, and I believe they would fight at JWW. If the result consequently not controversial or draw, then it will serves as the defining moment of their careers and as their farewell fights in the ring!
But if only one prevails, forget Pac-JMM III! However if both of them lose, the possiblity to happen is still there but less explosive because they would be overshadowed by the possibility of PBF-Cotto match up.
But with Pac speed, power from his two fists and eccentric movements would mostlikely stands victor over Cotto. Now, it's up to JMM to pulls victory over PBF which I believes it necessitate an uphill battle to have chance of winning from the kind of PBF, to make Pac-JMM III to happened! Although I think PBF will win this fight, an upset is just lurking around the corner and not too far a possibility.Comment

Man, I just pray that JMM doesn't make this catch weight thing become a trend like Pacquiao is doing. I'm giving him a pass with Mayweather because I realize he hasn't fought this high before and Mayweather can easily make a weight below 147 due to his conditioning. But when one of my favorite fighters starts doing this, I know that boxing will be doomed. I'd rather Marquez fight Mayweather at 147 so that there would be no excuses from anybody if he beat Floyd. Three pounds shouldn't make that much of a difference with these two guys because they are both professionals.Comment

marquez 147 title?
If Marquez can take care of business on Sept 19th I would not doubt his ability to contend against other welters, especially the winner of pac/cotto, however if such fight where to come about I would be more than in favor of a Marquez retirement wether he wins or loses... The man has given us some of the greatest fights in our era, I would not want to see him retire as did Chavez, Morales and Barrera amongst other greats who come out of retirement to only tarnish their legacy in the sport, within the next two or three fights he shall be near forty and a guaranteed future Hall Of Famer...Comment

Seriously, again I hope he doesn't... if he beats Floyd, fair enough I will wish him all the best, but I seriously think its a better idea to go to JWW or even LW and fight there... it would still put him in the position to get a Pacquiao fight, only if he was to go to JWW though IMO.
Seriously, coming from a guy that likes JMM...Last edited by Spacey1991; 08-22-2009, 04:56 PM.Comment

It's a trend for Pacquiao because he made Morales and Oscar drain weight even though the fights took place in real weight divisions and also the fact that Freddie Roach went on record and said that he would not have Cotto or Mosley fight Pacquiao at 147 and they would have to come down. I hope JMM shows he is better than that even though most people think he would be seriously outgunned in those fights against Mosley and Cotto.Comment

How big was that gun pointed in their heads to make them sign that fight? It's all the same song and dance... before the fight they're are going to take Pac's head off. After the fight, they are weight drained, shot, and all other excuses. In the post fight interviews these fighters give praises how the better man won that night yet we fans can't say the same.
I don't believe Pac is a WW. Cotto and Mosley can fight MW and still have to lose weight to make the limit while Pac will have to eat 2 breakfasts to make close, yet below the agreed limit. Outgunned or not I don't believe Cotto and/or Mosley should be beaten at full WW against Pac. I also feel JMM has no business fighting WWs. Talent and skills may be there for both him and Pac but the natural size will eventually dictate the outcome against the elite WWs.Comment
