Do you think JOEL CASAMAYOR is done?

One of my favourite fighters of all time.

I think it depends on the opponent. Against the right one he can win on experience and slip his way to victory.

he looked good enough against JMM to compete at the top level still

he should not retire on that loss imo

        Yeah, i think so.

His reflexes and speed were in decline for a while, prime Casamayor would never have gotten locked into a war with a guy like Katsidis, although him underestimating Katsidis contributed to his relatively patchy performance, age played a role too. He looked decent vs Marquez, quite good actually, he got up for that one knowing the calibre of Marquez, but was out-thought and stopped for the first time.

So yes, I think the knockout loss vs Maruqez at his age will have affected him greatly and this plus his declining abilities mean he's done at the top level.

I'd probably like to see him retire, but if he is to come back I think a fight with the winner of Katsidis-Escobedo might be alright. But he should probably retire.

He's not done, but taking off for so long doesn't help.

That too. He's a very smart fighter and he can still probably handle one dimensional puncher type guys, guys he can out think easily. But vs top fighters like Marquez etc, guys who can box just as good as him, and are younger and fresher, faster etc, he won't fare too well.

He's at a year inactive now, right? And at his age, he can't be taking those breaks.

I would have loved to see him in late spring or early summer against easy comp.

Is a guy like Juan Diaz just too busy for Joel at this point?
