He must be joking if he thinks he's better than Pacquiao.. I hope.
Roy Jones Jr feels he is better than Manny Pacquiao and Bernard Hopkins

If you said in your prime, I would definitely agree with you.
On the article, pound 4 pound he is not better than Pacquiao now. What he said holds some clout to it though, the p4p rankings to me seems to be a popularity contest rather than ability based.Comment

What else is new? Roy Jones talking **** about other legitimate P4P guys who fought real competition. Just exactly the same way he would trash and dismiss guys like JCC, MAB, ODLH, SSM, etc, etc...
Roy greatness is in his own mind only (well, his and Ree****yaluss's).Comment

You can argue that he isn't as great as Sugar Ray Robinson, Ali but you can't argue that he wasn't great.Comment

That's the problem with all of those legions of boxing fans who go around claiming that guys like RJJ, Joe Calzaghe, etc. were EVER the P4P best in the sport. They are totally clueless about what the real criterion is for determining the best in the game.Last edited by NachoMan; 08-21-2009, 10:06 PM.Comment

When the hell has the P4P rankings EVER been "ABILITY-BASED??" The P4P is about achievement, plain and simple. It is about how great fighters perform against other great fighters, not how they probably would have done against other great fighters. It's certainly not about how many consecutive hooks they can throw at some no-hoper tomato can.Comment

On paper, no way can Roy Jones EVER in this universe lose to Antonio Tarver or Glen Johnson. That's why they fight the fights though. If Roy had fought the same level of competition in his prime that all of the real P4P clamaints that he talked **** about over the years did, he would have several more losses on his record. All of his naysayers would have a bit more respect for him though.Last edited by NachoMan; 08-21-2009, 10:07 PM.Comment
