Mayweathers Work Ethic > Anyone in boxing
when have you ever seen Mayweather tired in a fight? that dude can box 15 rounds easily
Mayweather took the time off to build his strength and offense IMO....this Marquez fight will tell all...
if Juan Diaz and Chris John landed punches with no problem vs Marquez.....he is in trouble vs Mayweather...i hope he has been working on his defense....never mind the muscle buildingLast edited by NachoMan; 08-21-2009, 09:08 PM.Comment

his stamina is a product of his work ethic
Maybe I should have been more clear....I didnt mean it as he trains better or harder (as every fighter has different work out routines)...but his discipline in and out of the ring is what makes him what he is..
sorry for confusionComment

But that's what "activity" is. Gym work is no substitute for actual fights or HIGH-END sparring. mayweather was going to the fitness gym, shadow boxing and doing light sparring with whatever scrubs were using his gym.
Meanwhile, Cotto and Pacquiao were in high-level training and going rounds with championship calibre fighters.Comment

At 32 with a almost two year layoff he might need some time to get back in top condition but i don't doubt that he will get there. Even if he wouldn't he would still have enough to dominate most. The Marquez fight will be great to show where he is at. After that i hope he takes on Cotto or Shane.Comment

I have NEVER seen Floyd box ONE full round ever, never mind 15 of them. He shows up in shape, no doubt, but he doesn't exactly set anything close to a blistering Pacquio-type pace in the ring. Even his most ardent fans have to admit that the guy does more posing and coasting than actual fighting.
just cause he is patient, defensive and smart doesnt mean he cant fight 15 rounds.....the think with Mayweather is that his opponents are forced to be more cautious cause of his skills....thats why his fights are fast paced these days....
do you watch boxing or do you just skim through it?Comment

My argument was that any fighter's stamina is a product of work ethic. And while I agree that Mayweather is 1 of the most well conditioned fighters in the world....to determine that he has a better work ethic than any other fighter in the world just solely on the fact that we've never seen him tired in a fight is ludicrous because the fact that we've never seen him tired in a fight is a combination of skill, strategy, conditioning, and the fact that he's never been forced to dig deep and press the fight. And until we've seen him in a position where he has to dig deep either knowing he has to knockout his opponent to win the fight...or is in a position where he's pressing the fight the entire time as opposed potshotting or laying on the ropes or on the inside laying on his opponent...we cant make a proper evaluation of whether or not he's the hardest working...or even the most well conditioned fighter out there.
look at the fighters he has faced and then look at their opposition....their opposition has been forced to "dig deep". Mayweather is that good that he controls what other fighters do.....THEY dont dictate the pace of the fight...HE does.....Ive seen ALL of mayweathers fights that have been recorded and in all of those fights his opponents attempt to employ certain strategies that arent effective.....i believe thats called "ring generalship"
Mayweather himself has stated that he has been beating fighters with his C game..lolComment
