its going to be hard to have a death in a ufc event. The fights are shorter and the fights are stopped a lot quicker due to the fact you can do more then punch. so once a guy is stunned there's a quick ground pound then the ref jumps in. still brutal but with boxing, you get stunned you can hold and not worry about being thrown to the ground, knee'd etc.

Most boxing deaths are accumulation damage, plus the boxers are better trained as punchers. Boxing is a far more dangerous sport then MMA period.

      Oh it's inevitable.

If and when it does happen The sport will take something of a hit but it would definitly be the ACs that would take the brunt.

If I had to make a prediction, I'd say it would look something like Yvel/Rizzo. Rizzo was KO'd and took substancial damage while the ref looked on.

Right now, about 75% of all the MMA refs the ACs provide are not certified. They're boxing and/or TKD refs.

A lot of us in the community are very frightened about it.

It's still a pretty new sport but when the sport been around for a few decades at this level then there are going to be several deaths, and former fighters who are punch-drunk..etc. It won't hurt the sport though. But some hardcore MMA fans will obviously get a reality check.
