  • Lots of hate and accusations of being a coward thrown at someone who fought De La Hoya at 154 in Hoya's choice of gloves, ring size, etc.

Something that Pacquiao would never do.

Don't know about you guys, but I saw him setting up in the middle of the ring plenty of times against Hoya. Also saw him beating up Hatton inside, looking very comfortable in close quarters.

Take a deep breath and admit that it's just pure hate. You really don't want to give the man any credit no matter what he does. He's coming out of retirement and taking on the P4P #2. Very few cried when Cotto took on Urkal as a comback fight.

If you don't like his defensive style, fine. The name of the game is boxing, and he is undefeated.

    • Soooo....he wont fight mosley cotto or marg because they all beat eachother, and he dont like fighting people with loses on their career, yet he can fight som1 with 4 loses? lol and the fact they are stepping up 2 weight divisions, and are unproven at that weight division....

Mayweather chats so much **** i dont understand how people can still stick up for him, nuthugger or not were not blind....

He tells so many lies he catches himself out all the time...if he was fighting pac he would be saying he beat JMM twice....or he would say well im not a judge n they scored it for pac or something ******...no wonder so many people dislike him, its not even hate, hes just a **** lol

I don't necessarily disagree with your post but, to be fair to Pacquiao, he was leaping from 135 to face Oscar. Of course he's not going to go higher than 147. Floyd on the other hand was already at 147 going up seven pounds. Huge difference there.

He gets credit from every1 for the delahoya fight, but after that he turned into a *****....n u know it

Yeah hes taking on the P4P #2 WHO IS A LIGHTWEIGHT.....did you forget that? it would of been 10 times more impressive if he came out of retirement and faught som1 like cotto or mosley who arnt top 2 P4P dont you think? Yet hes acting like JMM poses the biggest threat of any1 he could face at this moment in time...hes a fool its not hate, he gets credit for his 130-135 days, and the DLH fight...but what has he done in the last 3 years?

              • Props to those who responded to me. You made some good points.

The point about Pac is well taken. What about 147? 154 is definitely a stretch, but would you say Pac moving up to 147 would be a risk as big as Mayweather going to 154. Pac doesn't seem willing to do that.

Mayweather is small enough that demanding a catch-weight with Oscar wouldn't have been a terrible thing, but he didn't do it. We should respect that. I know some of you say he gets props for that, but I certainly haven't seen it around here.

My purpose is not to criticize Pac because I also feel he deserves all the credit in the world. I just think there are definitely some double standards when it comes to Mayweather.

Yes, Mayweather is coming back and fighting a lightweight. But lets be real about this. Do you expect him to come back and fight Mosley straight from retirement? Would you really expect any other boxer to do that right after a 2 year lay-off? We all know he wants the major money fights, so fighting someone like Urkal would be out of the question. At least he's taking on someone with major skill that provides intrigue. I didn't hear much crying with Oscar taking on Forbes...at least not as much as this fight. Double standard again?

Mayweather makes a good point. If you can't give him credit for beating Marquez (if he does beat him), will you give him credit if he beats Pac, a man that many people thought lost to Marquez.

I, for one, am not to worried about who he fights coming off retirement. I'll save my criticism for if he wins and doesn't fight a Cotto/Pac/Mosley/maybe PWill next. Those are the only fights I want to see him in after Marquez. I think he receives way too much criticism for taking this fight right out of retirement.

I'll also add that beating DLH was a big deal in name only. For Pac...AND Floyd. Oscar's been washed up for a minute.

Judge him on what he does after this fight. Simple as that. This is the most I have ever seen people ask of someone in a comeback fight. Two of the last three years he was not active so nothing. The year before he was involved in two of the biggest Boxing events in recent history.
