When do you see me hugging his nuts? This actually might be your first time replying to one of my threads, but it is what it is. You can have your opinion too. I'm just writing about what I see on here.Comment

I really don't like the idea of Cotto asserting his dominance too early...I mean that is what it seemed like Hatton wanted to do. I think Cotto should just feel him out, and use his jab in the early rounds. Later, around the 8th, he can start landing hard punches to Pac's body. I know one thing Cotto needs to neutralize Pac's speed.I see no reason as to why he won't step it up in the biggest fight of his life (post-Margarito). Surely even he knows what he did wrong in the Clottey fight, and that the same tactics absolutely will not work against a highly active and prime Pacquiao. He has the benefit of video and prior knowledge about his opponent, so he'd better use it to the fullest extent.
The main thing he needs to is to quickly assert dominance and make clear his (apparent) power advantage over Pac, so that the little blown up SFW doesn't get confident and start unloading crafty shots on him at will. The moment Cotto starts going backwards and yielding to any pressure by Pac, it's all over - Margs had his number in that regard, and so did Clottey.
Also, who's training him this time? Same guy as the previous fight?Comment

I agree! He has definitely been very competitive...I guess what I meant to say is that he needs to have a dominant performance over tough competition to shut some peepz up.Comment

Well, it's either that or let Pac run and throw an occasional jab/flurry from afar like Jennings did. I know there's such a thing as patience, and it was his first outing since Margs, but I thought Cotto looked really gunshy in that Jennings fight - in a bad way. Something didn't look right. We saw shades of it in the Clottey fight, too. Against Pac, who likes grabbing the opening rounds, that just will not work.
Or, ideally, stop him before the 8th.
Pac's stamina is something amazing, so for Cotto to go into the fight already accepting it to go the distance isn't the best idea. A stoppage is what he needs to be looking for from the opening bell. He ain't winning a decision.
To do that, he needs to learn to hold. He's got an excellent defence, so I don't see why he shouldn't take some risks and walk through Pac's shots to get on the inside. Once there, unlooooooaaaaaaad with those bodyshots!Comment

Because I have a pic of him I'm a nuthugger? Also if you knew me you would have known that the Cotto = threads were comebacks for all the other similar threads. I mean I even had peepz PM'ing me saying they knew what I was doing. Anywayz that is your opinion.Comment

Holding is something Cotto won't do!!! It would be a good tactic though.Comment

Dude, if Cotto will wait until the 8th round to land his hard punches it might be to late for him. If Cotto chooses to get tentative with his punches on the early rounds, Pacquiao for sure will exploit the situation and take the advantage and try to land cluster of power punches.
I'm predicting that both fighters will try to dictate the tempo of the fight at the early rounds to shape-up their game plan to a T.Last edited by peyk-peyk; 08-19-2009, 06:18 PM.Comment

Unlike many peepz on here I really don't think Cotto has stamina problems...problems with fighters who are bigger yes! With that said, Cotto is the type of fighter to feel his opponent out first and then take them out. I do understand your point too.Dude, if Cotto will wait until the 8th round to land his hard punches it might be to late for him. IMO
